Hi Everyone! I want to encourage you all to take advantage of your profile page. Click on your name, then Edit, and tell us about yourself and your business in your Profile.
Sean has placed some great questions there so we can get to know each other.
It’s nice to tell about yourself in a forum post, but those can be hard to find.
I went through the members list and most Profile Pages are empty, so why not take advantage of this key part of the membership?
I’m even offering a free report (Shameless self-promotion!) on mine!
Looking forward to learning more about you,
Norma Allen Esler

Not only are there not many profile pages but not everyone has included a picture. The one I have used is a bit old and not me at my best but at least it is better than nothing. The email address I have used for this site does not have a gravatar associated with it so I had to add this one manually.
There again the fact that I am not the only one who does not have a gravatar associated with their email is also a point for concern.

God's Lily is "a voice for those frustrated by the slow progress towards a fair society where the needs of the weakest are met in a way that it strengthens them rather than weakens them further" . If that includes you then hop on over and have a look around. If you like what you see it would be a good idea to sign up to receive our blog broadcasts. Oh and you will get a couple of pdf files that explain the what and why behind the site when

Hi Norma,
Great to have you in the Community (Excellent maiden name by the way). We all need inspiration and that’s what it seems like you’re all about! Good for you! I hope to get to know you better over the next weeks and months but I do have one small suggestion for you to start with. Your idea of using our profile page is a great one. Agreed totally. But… If you can somehow get your links (especially on your blog and in your pdf give-a-way documents) to load in a new tab or window it would probably benefit you. When someone clicks on your link and the page changes to that link they still only have one thing of yours to see/do. If it opens in a new tab when they exit that tab they still have your original page open. Just an idea. Looking forward to more interaction. If you're looking for a someone to bounce things off of in the IM world, I'm your guy and I really would love to help you out. Helping others is just who I am!

@ Don – Thank you for adding your profile info. Love the Dojo theme for your site! Very cool!
@ Susan – I appreciate you loading a picture. It just makes it easier to relate to people.
@ Steve – Thanks for the link tip. I always code html this way, but didn’t think about doing this with a pdf. It isn’t a problem if you open it in Adobe Acrobat, but lots of folks open pdf’s in a browser where it does cause an issue. I’ll check out a fix. Nice to meet another Allen!
@ Bruce – Looking forward to seeing Psych Hacks. My son is a psychology professor so I have an interest in the subject.

Wow, Norma. A Psych professor. I’d better watch my step. LOL
I’ve taught undergraduate and MBA students in leadership and management on two US military bases in Italy.
That was fun.

Hi Friends,
If you check your profile page you can see any friend requests that come your way, so there’s another value in checking your profile page occasionally. I have some requests out there and am wondering why I haven’t had too many responses yet. (sniffs armpits).
I’m still not sure though, what “friending” accomplishes. More information would be nice.

Hi Norma, Thanks for the reminder about the profile page.
When I began to explore the site I thought: “Sean, What a great Idea. I need to fill this out.”
Alas, I got busy and interested in other areas of the site and never went back.BTW Norma, Nice Download! – Thank you. -B

Hi Norma,
Thanks for the timely reminder, I have now completed the profile. I love how you can change your statements, at a late date also.
One point for everyone:
I have not got a website yet, and I noticed that when I tried to complete “your current website URL” box with wording something like: “I haven’t got one to date” It would not accept any wording.
So I suspect that the final, URL details box is coded only to accept actual URLs.

There’s also a link to what is called a “cover page.” That’s the long banner that you see in Facebook profiles.
I encourage you to find a suitable picture to put in there, too. It really improves the appearance of your profile.

No matter what platform you’re on, Les, your profile is critical.
It’s the first window that people have into who you are.
I get LinkedIn invitation almost every day.
You’d be amazed at the number of people whose profiles are incomplete.
No picture.
No description of what they’re doing, or one that’s so vague that it could be anything.
And some people won’t even disclose all of their name.
It’s just first name and an initial for their last name.
And then they tell me they want to be in my network.
Do you think I’m going to let them in?

I’m thrilled to see that Sean has added a signature section to the Profile Page. While you’re adding your profile information, you can also make up a signature that will go underneath all your posts. You can even add some basic HTML coding in there to link your website.
The software won’t let me add code here so I’ve put it into a text file. (And yes I tried coding it out, using ascii equivalents, etc.)
Here is a text file that shows how to add your website link to your signature.
This will open in a new tab so you can copy and paste as instructed.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi Roger. Thanks for that. Where is the photo from in your profile header?
I followed your profile link over to your blog. Love the TED Talk there! I am a big fan of TED. Such great information and so easy to listen when I’m washing dishes, etc.

Private Messages
Here’s another great reason to remember to look at your own profile page from time to time:
Your profile page is where you’ll receive notification that someone has sent you a private message.
I just checked mine and saw that there were messages from 5 days ago! Sorry friends for not getting back to you!
So, make sure that your profile is up to date and do check in to see if you have any messages or friend requests waiting for your response.
