I had 12 people send me to the Rakiov Effect promotion. I couldn’t get away from it. I hear that joint ventures can make your business overnight.

But I am sure that there is a right time and a right way to do that.

Is there anyone that has had some experience they would like to share?

You have to be really careful with JVs, Scott.

You’re correct. The right ones can be very profitable.

But there has to be mutual value, enormous trust, and great chemistry first.

Make sure you’re symbiotic. Natural relationships make good business. Forced relationships leave folks scratching their heads.

I think the biggest thing when you are going to promote a JV is to make sure it works for your list. If you are building a rapport with your people and then you send them to things that are not going to help them they will just stop trusting you and then won’t open your emails.

I know I have several people I follow and recently one started sending me to JV every email and not even giving me a reason why, just ‘canned’ generic email “hey I thought you would like this etc”. So I now don’t even open her emails anymore.

So JV is wonderful if it helps, give value, and solves a problem not just to make you money. This way your list will trust you and when you send the JV to them (especially on a launch when they are getting if from heaps of other lists) they will buy though you.

I had someone tell me that when I got a really big list to check back with them.

Now if I had a really big list, I probably wouldn’t really need to JV.

Sort of a which comes first the chicken or the egg problem.
