Sean sent me an exercise to create a document of steps I take people through.

While working on this today I noticed there were some areas of my website that aren’t really in alignment with where I want people to go.

I’m all for people going down a rabbit trail on my site, as long as it leads them to more information about what I offer.

But for a while, like many people (I think) my blog was more like a random assortment of thoughts.

As I tighten things up, I want people to go in a single direction on my site. Taking inspiration from the idea that we don’t see the inner working of most people’s funnels, what we are exposed to is what hits that pain point and captures our attention.

So I’m curious to know, do you feel like your site, posts, opt-ins, etc. are a cohesive whole that lead a visitor where you want them to go?

    For example, if you filled in the blanks of;
I help ____ so they can ______…. or a similar sentence, what would it say?

Would your website reflect that sentence?
Does everything you do on your site let people know the value you offer and how you can help them get more of what they want?

I hope the end result of all this work I’ve done the past few days is a focused site that leads people to ways I can help them with specific issues.

Then keeping that focus, anything I add from now on will be in-line.

    Great Question Julia,
It invokes true thought and should make anyone who reads it really think through their site(s).
I however, have 2 questions (maybe suggestions) for you.
Have you intentionally made it difficult for people on you site to get your guide? Most squeeze page sites are simple with no scrolling and easy to see that there is only one objective. Yours is more like a sales page, long with lots of scrolling and at one spot even tells the reader to scroll back up to the button. I bet if you split test another version exactly like it but added a 2nd or even 3rd or 4th button throughout the text you’d get a higher conversion rate because people like easy.
And 2nd… The font is pretty small and hard to read (at least for me it is). A quick scroll down showing no images, and only super small text makes me not want to read all the way through. Again, I bet if you added some images to break up the text and made the font a bit larger (and added more buttons for your guide) that it would get better results.
I think you’ve done a good job at focusing on what you want people to do as your post says but from my experience, people need to have their attention grabbed, then they need to be told what to do and then you need to make it easy for them to do it.
But at least you have something up. That’s far better than most. Good job!

    Thanks Steve, for the feedback!

I was a little frustrated with that builder, but a little time with their tech support and I updated it pretty quickly.

It’s now also MUCH MORE in line with my signature program as this week I’ve been focusing on my main area of training and what I want to be known for in 2018.

I’d love any feedback on the new sq page.

let’s take this one step further:

think about the EXPERIENCE you want someone to have on your site.

if you were to go to someone else’s site looking for your kind of information and training . . what would you want to see?

Are those components on your site?

Is your site easy to navigate and folks can spend hours digging into the content and training on your site?

Can someone feel HOOKED after spending some time on your site?
