Share your Shoe-String-Startup tips, tricks and stories here at the triple S.
    I will start it out:

With Google sync and back up (formerly Google drive) I can work on any device I own and back up my important work to the cloud. First 15 gig free.
Google docs is a free online office suite.
Audacity is a free audio editor/recorder that is open source and has tons of plug-ins.
I make my book covers on Amazon’s kindle platform for free.
Get Response (autoresponder) and more is pretty good and starts at 15 bucks a month. They have great support.
Libreoffice is a free open source suite like Microsoft Office and is pretty compatible with Microsoft files.
Flashback Express is a free screen capture program.
There is another thread with free pictures in the group, but I personally use pixabay a lot.
Edublogs is a free blog for educators, but for $15 a quarter (that is three months) you can get the premium account with password protection and use it as your membership.

Tell us what you use and your S-S-S story!

    Google Classroom

I just found out that Google offers Classroom. You can go on this site, teach a class which is video-captured for you on Youtube. You decide if it is public, or mark it private and use Google Classroom to host your paid course!

Oh boy, I’m the queen of cheap, so I can add to the list:

Snag-It: $50 annually to do screencasts
    Screen-Cast-O-Matic: $20/annually to make recordings
If you don’t want to pay Amazon AWS to host your videos, you can even upload them to YouTube (free) and hide the fact that it’s a YouTube video with some simple code…LOL
MailChimp: Free email list/autoresponder (for the first 2,000 people subscribed)
Free image sites: See the list on the thread about that, I have several sites I use.
Domain names: Cheap anyway, but if you’re strapped, type “.99 GoDaddy domain name” into Google and get the first year for less than a buck.
I don’t even have Microsoft Office…I use OpenOffice, which is the free version which is open source
    MSC (Proof-reading, voiceovers, sometimes even e-covers): Fiverr.com

    Music

I make my own music for many of my projects, but there is a royalty free music site : http://incompetech.com/music/

Free music to use for pretty much any purpose. Youtube background, program intros, etc.

Check it out if you are looking for music.

    best,

If you’re building your site through WordPress, there’s a free plugin to secure your membership site called S2 Member. It supposedly works just as well as a commercial option such as Wishlist member (which, last I checked, was like $77/year).

When you’re in your WordPress admin, you can just go to a search for plugins and type it in.
Personally, I found S2 Member to be unnecessarily complicated, but some who have the patience may find it useful 🙂
