Some time ago I started a project and wrote a small number of articles for the Ezine article directory. I got some subscribers from it, most outside of the US and half of them from emerging countries. When you first post an article, Ezine promotes it on their front page and then it falls in the ranking. That means you get most of your response early on.

So the odd thing is, I still get activity reports on those articles monthly and they are being read, it dropped a lot and then stayed level, but now I am not getting any click throughs.

Not sure what that means. Has something changed about interaction at Ezine? Am I missing something?

I think linking to an article on Ezine or any other well known website is superior to just posting it on your own, so I plan on keeping Ezine in my tool box.

    Thoughts?

Why not do some guest posting on popular blogs in your niche, Scott? Ezine isn’t quite as robust as it once was.

Don, that sounds like a good idea. Not sure about how to get on popular blogs though.

Scott, take out those articles, update or refresh them, and start adding them in Linkedin. Let me know if you need a quick tutorial, or search youtube videos for “how to.” Also, repurpose them: consider videos, infographics, etc. I still post some to Ezinearticles, but primarily focusing elsewhere now.

    Great idea, Jan.

You should also check your Resource Boxes to make sure that the links in them are still accurate.

    PS
I am wondering if they are really being read or if it some sort of bot that comes across as a view?

I haven’t looked in Ezines in awhile, but I seem to remember that you could find out which articles got the most reads, when they were read last, and even see a graph that would show you how all of your articles were performing.

That info would probably tell you what you wanted to know.

Jan- I’m very interested in your offer to Scott regarding how you’d add articles to LinkedIn instead of or added to EzineArticles. I’ve used Ezine very little because every time I try to publish with them they won’t accept my article saying it is duplicate content from a previous article that I wrote when I know it is NOT or they (their auto bots) say content within my article is stated more than once when it is not. They also said that I had more than their allowed amount of links in my article when I had zero links in it and only 2 in my Resource Box. I’ve almost given up on Ezine. So I could either use some pointers on how to get through their automatic responses that aren’t right or with another way to get content into cyberspace to increase visitors to my sites. Thanks.

Scott … getting published on a blog: Find popular sites that accept guest posts, come up with an idea in your niche that fits the focus of the site, pitch your idea to the editor. That’s a way watered down synopsis, but those are the steps.

Scott, I think many popular blogs would happily welcome your guest posts. You already have a blog and many articles to be proud of, I’m sure… just do your research and approach them. It might take a while for some of the more popular ones to get back to you, but I’m positive a lot of opportunities would open up to you.

This is a very interesting thread to me, as I see some great ideas . . .

I would suggest making sure the links on the articles are still clickable, I found that some of mine had gone dead and of course then there are no clicks 🙂

but seriously, I like the direction of this thread, and believe there is a treasure trove of ideas here to the person who looks a little “below the surface”

There’s a new platform in town called Mention.

I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s free and they’ll promote your articles for you.

Another one I think is called Blogarama.

You simply register (it’s free) your site with them, and then every time you put an article on your blog, they resend it.
