I thought I would ask this here so everyone could see it and hopefully benefit.

So, if Sean finds the time in his busy day of helping people…

    Sean,
The only thing we may not have covered is at this point before I go too far, do you think I am on the right track with the home page, approach and how I am linking it (or in short what I am doing?)

I would welcome any of your thoughts and comments.

    http://www.threestepstowealth.com/

Some buttons work (the top three for example) and I am working on the rest.

Here is the plan at the 30,000 foot view

Create a massive platform with links to a wide variety of content, including mine.

    Send traffic to the platform.

Let people see what I do.

    Offer resources to subscribers

Market to those that sign up.

    Rinse and Repeat.

Eventually it will wind up organically in search engines and it will become the “go to” place for the topic and create its own traffic.

Everyone is welcome to join in on this thread.

    Thanks!

I like the layout and the design of your home page. I would arrange my clickable links in columns and try to put them above the fold.

I like the concept, and I personally LIKE well-linked sites like that where folks can find information quickly.

Personally, I’m curious about your 3 steps to wealth method, and because of our conversations in the past about it, clicked on it to see what’s there πŸ™‚

And of course, the key to your website or any other is that it must determine what need it solves, then relentlessly attempt to solve it.

The form is less of a user comfort thing or a personal thing, the most important thing is instituting a flow that leads folks to become engaged, stay on your site as long as possible, and most importantly, be engaged in solving their problem during that time.

      Thanks Sean!
It is a work in progress. On the three steps to wealth, I have tons of material I taught in live and in person groups. I intend to just pick the headlines of these pieces and first few sentences in each piece to make a short version and then add a link, “if you would like to learn more…” I will be adding them as I have time.

My hope is by taking a training piece already written and editing it down, it won’t be hard or time consuming to create content that aligns with the original piece and what they will eventually get.

There there will be the “sell aways” as you put it, subscriber magnets.

Sean likes the concept, so it is full speed ahead!

      I think I have a new obsession…

It is going from the old website and approach to the new platform and new approach. Lots to do.

As my wife says when she starts heavy cleaning, “It is going to look worse before it looks better…”

    @ Malik,

I really appreciate your response. I do intend to move the links up, but I am struggling with what I need at the top for a branding piece.

If you have a suggestion for that I am all ears.

As to columns, can you explain? As I see it there are three columns. Do you mean apply topics to columns? or do you mean on the pages that the buttons take you to?

I can’t do anything to control button width, that is determined by the text length.

    Thanks!

Just a quick observation. Your article links send people away from your website. I recommend placing the entire article on your new site so that you don’t lose people. Then put a link at the end of the article to something that will make YOU money, such as your own product or an affiliate link.

    Scott, Great Start!
A couple of things you can do an the top for branding is create a logo, and a cta button for example “find out more” to go to your squeeze page on banner (you had me curious and then left me hanging haha) add a favicon to remove the weebly “w” add professionalism.

Put your Privacy Statement on another page and then a link to it in your footer. With so much great content you can use your footer to create a second menu and expand your more section there. This will allow things to be easily seen.

Without seeing your setup I was wondering are the button all categories for articles? If they are you can do so much with this section. I haven’t played around in weebly for awhile (I mainly use joomla and wordpress) but happy to go into more detail if you want help.

You have some really valuable information here and a great usp πŸ™‚

btw why aren’t you on wordpress if you have so much long term wordpress is easier especially when you want to add lead magnets, membership areas etc. I am happy to help you go through the process if you want.

    Tina, thank you so much!

Why am I not on wordpress?

There is probably no one in the whole world that hates wordpress more than I do.

I met a man that probably hated it as much as I do, but no one any more.

If it works for you, then you must be a genius with ten lucky rabbit’s feet!

    thanks!

Looks like you’re off an running, Scott.

Nice structure, a lot of work ahead of you πŸ™‚

But it’s a labor of love, right?

    Now, here’s my thought.

You mentioned this: “Eventually it will wind up organically in search engines and it will become the β€œgo to” place for the topic and create its own traffic.”

I think SEO is a tough way to popularize a site and make it successful.

You should probably be thinking more along the lines of marketing your content OFF your site, with links back to your site, or to a squeeze page, or even a content upgrade to your article or video.

So think in terms of things like YouTube videos, micro-blogging on Medium, LinkedIn, Tumblr etc.

The real thrust of marketing online now is to go where your audience is… mostly social media sites.

That’s where you’ll get your chance to demonstrate the value you offer.

Eventually, through whatever info funnel you set up, you get them to come to your site… but only after you’ve already built a trust with them.

SEO traffic is essentially cold traffic.

People may come to your site, but if they don’t know you and haven’t had an opportunity to engage with you on some level, they’ll be much more likely to bounce.

Keep up the good work and it will be fun to see this develop.

    Update – Thursday

Trying to steal some time to work on the platform. I have a busy day with my other businesses.

Added search to the home page.

Added forums through the forum button.

Posted a little on the forum page.

Running up on which came first the chicken or the egg problems.

Just picking something and doing it, it all has to work for it to work.

I am making notes of your suggestions here, but it may be a while before I can implement them. I have to get it up and running, do the back work, gather together some products to sell, that sort of thing. I will make improvements to the structure as I go.

For now getting content up is the main focus, then we can work out the rest.

I have to go work in town for a few and when I am back I hope to try some laptop audio recording Sean Mize style.

It is a big thing to fire up the studio down stairs and then do a lot of editing, so I am going to try the laptop method to get some quick audio, but I was in radio and if it doesn’t pass my quality control it is fire up the studio time.

    Thanks to all!
