I don’t have a real preference between A and B, but B is more “friendly” and enticing

Again, no real preference between C & D, but C provides a bit more data about the conversation, I believe

Don’s right – navigation is critical. If it isn’t easy to locate a prior message in order to return for follow-up, the ability to help can be short-changed – and the person asking for help may not receive as much as they could have otherwise. A weekly topic focus might work if the info could be found and retrieved easily weeks or months down the road when someone needed it. To avoid gratis work, perhaps the rules could specify “advice” or “recommendations/suggestions” are OK, but not the “doing” of any work within the platform. Perhaps any “ambulance chasers” could be handled on an individual basis by Sean, at least until determined it was indeed more of a problem than expected.

I’m beginning to “train” Dragon 15 and find it much better than earlier editions. Also, on the iPhone Notes app, you can enable dictation – really handy while walking or otherwise out and about and some “great idea” pops into your mind.

Scott, of those who downloaded, how many went the next step to a free session or otherwise contacted? You might consider revising it a bit to directly address “you” rather than “they” in the Reasons. Just my first impression.

I think Joe and Don put it in a nutshell.

In addition to many of those already mentioned, I have found Brian Tracy’s books to be both motivational and practical. The first book I buy each of my grandchildren is The Little Engine that Could – may be a children’s story, but applies to business as well as life.

Claire, I think my attention span has changed over the years – seems much easier to be diverted now than in years past. Or that may simply be a result of today’s online hyperkinetic world. I do find that once I get into something, it becomes more difficult to bend to those distractions. So I appreciate Bruce’s suggestion to set up a plan and give it a try. It reminds me of a strategy I used years ago – 90 minutes on a project gave me enough time to accomplish something but was short enough to fit it in. I think I will try that for this coming week and see how it goes. That should leave enough time for current tasks/commitments. Appreciate all the suggestions.

Good suggestion, Bruce, for those tasks that can be outsourced – and I’ve added “note what can be outsourced, then create how-to aids” to my strategy planning – but that still leaves plenty of “stuff” to do for a new endeavor, utilizing the freed up time. So still curious as to whether others have found it more effective to work in new endeavors in small, daily time slots – or less frequent but longer time blocks – as Don suggests.

I want to share opinions on squeeze pages, forms, surveys, page layouts, and the like in order to make sure none of us miss anything and end up with the best possible elements.

I know you’re right, Bruce. Haven’t gotten past the “it takes longer to find and explain than to do it myself” stumbling block.

So glad you’re here, Bruce! I’ve previously used Instabuilder 2, but am trying to get started now with Beaver Builder for a new site – I know it’s not all that difficult, but it seems like the more I learn, the less I know and I’m getting serious stage fright with it! Have lots of tutorials and some add-ons that are supposed to make it easier/better, just have to get past this hesitation to the “just do it” stage.

A vote here for Camtasia on the PC – the Camtasia-killers do some things well, and if that’s the feature you need, they make sense. But Camtasia is the best all-around to be ready for most anything. Also, support is good with many how-to videos on their site as well as on YouTube by established users. The latest edition came down in price, I believe. Plus, I think they offer an educational discount if you have a student or teacher in your household.

Be sure you include the title and a link to a sales page on every email signature and every social media profile. Even better, offer a free excerpt on a separate landing page, collecting emails so you can email them the sample file – then include the “free sample or chapter” in your email sigs, website/blog pages, and social media profiles.

I’ve not created any PLR; have thought about it, but it is another business and realize I already have more of those than I need! I have purchased my share – the really good PLR (solid, with specific information and not general topic coverage that can be found in any Google search) can be good enough to offer it mostly as is, with minor tailoring, inside a membership site where members are seeking that information. But in order to sell PLR as a book or info product, you really need to add a lot of new information, opinions, examples – in order to offer something different plus not tick off buyers who find what they just paid for elsewhere for free or nearly free. And as a professional writer, I find that can take more effort and time than starting from scratch. But the non-writer may find it useful to have a good starting place.

You’re right, Don – I think more attention to the focus would be helpful, whether a short time period or longer one. So easy to slip off into other thoughts that come to mind uninvited.

The quickest way to earning money online is to offer a service that people need – either because they can’t do it themselves or because they prefer to invest their time otherwise. Some services that come to mind are writing blog posts or sales copy, editing graphics, setting up/designing websites – or solving some tech problem. You can find these “gigs” on job posting sites or even post what you offer on Fiverr.com. Any number of free and paid courses are available on how people have parlayed $5 Fiverr jobs into substantial incomes – probably searching YouTube and Google would bring up some free tips. Many people have used these quick service jobs to bankroll their bigger projects.

You can also put the service you offer in all your profiles, email sigs, and put up a small website with contact information, background, and perhaps tips to pull in search traffic.

I’m thinking that a platform is how others know and recognize you. So if your website, membership, emails, videos, social media messages all “give off” the same “message,” then it becomes a platform. For example, when traditional book publishers consider taking on a new author, they look at the author’s “platform” or presence online and/or offline – to see if there is one before committing to a contract.

When platform is used in “which membership platform do you use,” it is a technical term – and totally different.

    I think 🙂

Another vote here for Membersonic – not only is Andrew conscientious about support, but they do updates as needed and have new features coming online very soon, so they are keeping up with owners’ ever-changing needs. It allows dripping of content as well as membership levels. The Facebook group has some helpful user-participants, also.

Claire, I send out a monthly 8-page print newsletter (34th year, I think) and post the PDF edition inside the Member area (some pay less and do not receive the print edition). I also post resources and trainings (PDFs, videos) inside the Member area and send out an email to members whenever anything is added to the Members area. We also sponsor an annual writing contest, so have a Contests listing page for other contests (as well as our own, of course) and have a separate list (members and non-members) to send a notice to whenever a new contest is posted (probably 1 to 2 times a week on average). That contests page is there mainly to bring people to our site area where we have our own guidelines and entry form posted. I also offer a free PDF download of our monthly newsletter, and they go on a list with several auto-follow-ups; I broadcast to them when I have a special membership offer or affiliate offer etc..

Try searching Google for Forum Directory – several come up, such as findaforum.net – some niches may be listed in more directories than others

I’ve been sending out a free newsletter about every two weeks, offering it to both members and non-members. I use a text version, but format it in WordPerfect (yes, still prefer WP over Word!) as to font style/size, boldfacing, italics, etc. I use short paragraphs with **** lines clearly separating next topic – so easy to read on any device.

I “publish to HTML,” which Word likely does also. That saves the HTML on my desktop, but also opens it inside a browser window. There a right-click and click on “view page source” (using Chrome, but other browsers must have the same ability) provides the entire document in HTML.

I select all that source code then copy it (control C on a PC).

Next, in Aweber, I send a broadcast message, under “Create a Message” use HTML Editor, then click on “Source” tab and replace the small snippet of code with my saved code, using control v.

Save & Exit, and schedule a mailing, same as a regular email.

The newsletter (or eZine) is mostly helpful tips and links, with in-house promos and periodic affiliate promos as warranted. It’s useful for getting new members and encouraging current members to renew (some are on auto-payment, but most get renewal notices.

Hope this gives you an idea – it’s not as complicated as spelling it out makes it seem LOL
