I don’t make it to most of the weekly calls. As Sean can tell you, I’ve only made it to one or two.
If memory serves, I think they last an hour.
The first half involves Sean sharing a specific message or teaching that will benefit the whole group in general.
The second half is him taking specific calls for those who have a question about implementing a specific part of their business.
He will ask at the very beginning, whether you have a question, so he can plan to take it in the second half. So the best bet is to come prepared with a specific question to ask about the point of training (or implementation of your business) that you may currently be struggling to understand or do.
As I mentioned, I don’t come to many of the weekly calls (combination of my availability, and the fact that I am full steam ahead as far as knowing what I’m supposed to be doing at this particular point in time), but I do benefit from listening to the replays, which he makes available after each weekly meeting. I find that listening to them is both motivational, and can give me quite a bit of insight.
Hope this helps.

I was struggling quite a bit with this. I had the idea to help others with insomnia, having dealt with it pretty extensively myself. But there are tons of sites out there that deal with that topic already.
In the case of IM, it’s not always what product is better or different than others, but what about YOU is different or better, to make others want to buy from you, vs. the other 100 marketers they hear from daily.
In my case, it was the realization that I can use my knowledge (and my clinical title) to set myself apart as some sort of “expert” (I don’t like referring to myself as such, but people respond best to it); combined with teaching a cognitive technique not taught by a layperson.

H Julie,
Type the domain into Google to see how many backlinks it has pointing to it from other sites. If it has quite a few other sites already linking to it, then it may not be a bad idea to purchase it, because you’ll have instant exposure. (Just see where the links are coming from, to make sure it’s the kind of exposure you want!)
You can also see how much traffic a site is currently getting. This post explains various ways to do that:

Thanks Donna,
It’s taken me a while to learn this concept.I was sweating away at creating an ebook to give away for free, til I realized it was high enough value to sell! It became my $7 “front-end” product. Yes, it’s short (40 pgs). But if I am learning anything, especially in my niche, getting the solution quick and easy is the key. Length of the ebook is not. in fact, short and to the point is probably better.
My current lead magnet is simple: “5 Things You Tell Yourself That Could Be Creating Your Chronic Insomnia.”
It says what they are, so the readers might recognize that they do say those things to themselves.
But to read more about WHY the statements are so harmful, or WHAT to do to change thinking that way, they have to subscribe.I Use Reviews

To me, failure is giving up.
You should always be reaching for goals.
Now, the goal may CHANGE – which is OK. You learn by doing, and so you may have to tweak, improve, and change things around a bit.
As the Marines say: “Identify – Adapt – Overcome!”
It requires internal resiliency to keep at it, even when it may get exhausting.
But when you throw your hands up and say you’re not going to try anymore, and don’t…That, to me, is the point of failure.I Use Reviews

Thanks for the responses so far. Like you, I’m past the A phase…it’s now the matter of working it out and getting it going.
(Not that there is anything wrong with being in phase A…if you’re reading this and you are, consider yourself lucky that you found Sean’s training, instead of getting stuck in an endless loop of bad training & advice!)
It’s also interesting to me that so many of you are working on multiple projects…I thought I was the only one who did that! LOL.
It’s very encouraging to be in a community of others who are not just talking, but DOING!

My routine is all over the map, but it does have some themes to it.
6:30: Wake up, drink coffee, get my daughter to school.
7:20: Come home. Work out if I am disciplined enough, before I lose the desire altogether. Drink more coffee, read emails.
8:00: Usually focused time on the computer.
I set my own schedule, so I can see clients in my “day job” anywhere as early as 9 or 10, and as late as 9 at night.
So from 9-2:00, I’m usually working on the computer, unless I have sessions with people. This is my most productive time of the day, as far as working on my online stuff – and sometimes my day job, too 😀2:00: Go pick my daughter up from school. It’s our little thing, where she gets my undivided attention. We’ll discuss how her day went, maybe go get some food.
4-? – Back on the computer – when I’m not out meeting with clients. (Note, my daughter is a senior in high school, so she is often gone, or has her own friends over, or doing her own homework. If one of my other [grown] kids comes over, or she or they need or want my undivided attention sometime between these hours, this is family time.)
When I’m home, I’m not as productive during this time, but I will still try to work on things. And/or, this is the time that I do “lighter” activities online, like checking in on PreneurPal 🙂
I’m usually in bed by 10. I rarely stay up later than that, although sometimes I am not tired until 11 or later.

Hey Scott,
There’s a tab on the far right on your FB page (underneath my logo in the picture) that says, “Sign up”.You would click on the button and you’ll get a popup box that directs you to put in the link to your email list.
You have to get that code from your autoresponder.
Personally, I redirect them to the blog I’m building, because I have an automatic pop-up there that does all the work. It allows them to see a few articles from me, which (I hope) establishes trust. (I really need to get plugging away on writing more articles, however.)
From there, they sign up. I’ve gotten about 15 subscribers that way so far, having very, very minimal content.
But you can, of course, redirect the to wherever you want. Most autoresponders give you the option to host your sign-up page. (If not, it would be the URL of your own sign-up page, with their code pasted in on it).
I’m sure there are much more complex ways of getting subscribers via FB, but that’s at least a start.

Hey Sean,
As everyone knows, you have to have a clearly-defined niche. The way I look at it, you have to develop a unique “hook”, as well.
In my niche, for example – there are plenty of folks teaching how to overcome chronic insomnia.
I had to look at it and ask what I could offer that was unique and different from others teaching the same thing.
Then I realized: As a licensed social worker, I have pretty extensive background and training in cognitive behavioral techniques (which are known to be effective for insomnia) that others don’t have.
So there’s my hook.
For a long time, I thought all I had to offer was maybe the “$1.50-at-best” coffee. I was planning on just rehashing the same old “good sleep hygiene” techniques everybody else throws around. Still valid – they work for me and I firmly believe in them. However, I hadn’t found my “hook” yet.
When you finally come up with your unique spin you can add to an already-existing marketplace, it all starts to come together. And yes, I believe what I create is/will be “the $4 coffee”.
I think everyone has some special, unique-to-them knowledge or ability, which others will in turn see as truly valuable information.

I swear by Snag-it, which is made by Techsmith, (which makes Camtasia), but Snag-It costs a quarter of the cost – $49.99. And, you can get a free 2 week trial: http://bit.ly/2zCwRBz
I also use Screencast-O-Matic. Super cheap and does the job.
Both are “must-have” products for me.

I remember I’d been following Sean’s emails and he sent one about buying his step-by-step blueprint. He was running a one-day-only type special on it to get it cheaper than usual.
And on the sales page, he said:
“Now, there’s the thing, as an entrepreneur, you must sometimes take risks, take action, decide to lay the rest aside and just make it happen.”That’s what caused me to purchase the program (which was exactly what I needed to get going, by the way).
Sean is really, really good at motivating people who are lost or stuck to get off their arse and just “do”.

Bruce,
I’ve struggled with the same daunting task. I’m faced with building a regular list and a “buyer’s list”.The buyer’s list is easy – I have lots of tips and tricks that would naturally flow with the rest to provide good value.
I’ve been thinking about what to send the other list, aside from the obvious calls to action to check out my product.
So far, I’ve come up with:
-Links to check out my blog posts/videos (which all, subtly or not so subtly, lead back to an opportunity to buy the product). Ask a question, encourage them to check out the post/answer on the blog.
-Basic stories about how hard life is without your offer, and how it can improve with it. Testimonials and stories are great because they draw the reader in.
-Stories that end with a prompt to check out more information on the site (FAQ, etc.)
-Polls – Have you hired someone before? What was your experience? What did they lack that you need? – Encourage feedback from them to shape your services into what they need. Now granted, I realize, all of this sounds easier to do than it actually is 😉 But those are some of the things I’m going to aim for initially.
It’s amazing how long someone will stay on a list without buying anything. But then if you happen to offer something at the right time, when they’re looking for it, you might turn that subscriber into a customer. I’ve been on some people’s lists for years, solely because they’re entertaining or informational. One marketer I recently subscribed to tells a joke at the beginning of each email (which is usually a product pitch). How can I say no to that?!

Thanks so much for all the responses on this!! They definitely helped.
So, your responses gave me some clarity, as far as my end goal: Focus on capturing those leads, build the list of loyal “fans,” & direct them to products I can make on whichever platform I want. I knew that, but I guess I’m just caught up in putting too much stock into the ability of whatever platform I use to drive my leads, when the truth is, it’s up to my own efforts, as well, no matter what I use, right? 😉
But, I have to start somewhere. You’ve all given me some great ideas for that, many of which I haven’t heard of before, and that’s exactly what I needed – options! I will definitely be checking them out. Thanks so much, everyone!!

I think this is the same thing Norma was saying, but: I wish there was a way to get notified by email when you get a reply to your posts. Yes, there is the option to read “unread,” when you first log in, but sometimes you still have to go digging to find the posts you wrote actually wrote in the first place in order to get the response, etc. Some forums will send the responses directly to your email, with a way to go directly to that particular discussion thread.

I try to get to working on my online business first thing in the morning, when I feel the most productive/creative.
Diet/exercise – The better I am with eating healthy, the more productive I am. Weird how that works.
I learned from another IM expert about keeping track of your progress during the day while you work. Almost like a time sheet. Segment your day in 15 minute chunks and write down what you did for each part. That way, you can look back and see if your results reflect the amount of time you put in. If not, you’re almost certainly wasting it on other things (which you can clearly track, if you’re being honest), or don’t have a clear sense of direction during the time you are putting in “working”. I find I don’t need to do this as much anymore, but when I’m being particularly non-productive, it is something I fall back on.
I also find it helpful to block out my day in my planner, even the time I’m working from home. Like, “1:00-2:00 : Record video #2 for membership site.” Then it’s on my calendar and I want to be able to check it off to say I got it done. I also try to take that time seriously. If it’s written down there, do it…It’s not the time to check Facebook or watch YouTube videos.
Also, I try (when possible) to plan the following day’s “to do” list the night before. I list everything I can think of, then narrow it down to the top 3 (in order) that I need to get done. After doing those, anything else I can get done on top of that is a bonus.

Les,
Thanks so much for the response, and the friends request! I did go in and accept.
I appreciate what you’re saying, about finding an honest review community. I would like to find that, but figured, I have to start somewhere. Til today I had a YT channel with videos with no likes, and only a few views. Gotta get the ball rolling somewhere (at least, that was my rationale). As far as the products, I’ve used so many over the years. Mostly due to some idea I had here to there, which necessitated its use. That’s why I figured, “Why not?” I also plan to review IM programs, too…If something looks interesting, might as well buy it and see if it works, then do a review. A way to make my “shiny object syndrome” lucrative, I guess.
The irony is that I’m pretty “settled” doing this project. I’m realizing whatever you do, it’s a process to keep it all rolling. I recall Sean’s training about completing 1 blog post, 1 video, 1 email, etc, a day. The real test will be whether I can get and keep that momentum going!

Steve,
Yes, thanks so much for visiting the channel and giving my first YT comment! 😀Oh, I have no qualms admitting it’s far from perfect! I have a long way to go, but then again, it’s also completely new territory for me. I always shied away from videos and did screencasts instead, so the “video-within-a-screencast” seems like the perfect solution for me. I actually did it using free software.
Is the part you’re referring to as too big, the video of me? If so, I’ve thought that myself. I would like to mess with the settings in that program to be able to figure out how to adjust the size to be a bit smaller.
Thanks again for all the feedback – it’s very appreciated!

Bruce,
Yes! The experience of jerking awake right before dozing off sounds all too familiar to me. It used to be infuriating for me when that would happen!!As far as my approach – it is very “back to basics,” and can be mostly summed up as, “wean yourself off sleeping pills, stop eating artificial junk, exercise early in the day, drink real water, decrease stress by using stress reduction techniques, and practice good sleep hygiene”. On top of practicing the cognitive techniques, of course – which many people actually have to get up and go to therapy to learn. Nothing earth-shattering, but also quite unique, as far as what else I’ve seen packaged. As you point out, in today’s society, the lifestyle changes are hard to do. But CAN they be done, at least to a degree, if you’re determined enough to get good sleep? Yes!
I can’t claim to permanently “cure” problem of insomnia, but I can certainly provide help, IF the person is willing to actually take the steps. That’s key, and as you know, implementation is half the battle…getting the person to even TRY something different! I see it more as a lifestyle than a quick fix.
Think about the advice usually given on losing weight. You can “diet,” or you can try to do overall lifestyle changes that are conducive to weight loss. A diet gives temporary results. A lifestyle is something you try to attain. You fall off the wagon, you go back to practicing the basic techniques and get back on. That’s the value (as I see it) of having a membership site, where you have others at various stages who can provide encouragement to, or get it from, others (depending on where they are personally at currently).

Julie,
See, you’re getting the hang of it! 🙂If you’re not used to internet forums, it is a real learning curve, and even if you are, this particular one requires some getting used to as well. Glad you’re picking it up!
One other source I didn’t think to mention is domain evaluation sites like Esti-bot. (There are more — just Google domain name evaluation, or domain name appraisal.) They will tell you how much a domain name is worth, so you’ll know whether it’s worth reserving once it expires. Just be careful, because that and other domain evaluation services are estimates at best. You’ll notice their estimates can vary greatly. But they are at least a starting point, as far as seeing the value of the domain.
Another good one to explore is the Internet Wayback Machine at https://archive.org/web/. You can type in the domain and often see a history of what the site looked like (and who had it registered) for years back.
All these tools together can help you make an informed decision on whether to purchase it.

Les & Bruce:
I see both points, and I think you are both correct…stating two different sides of the same argument. In my own mind, I’ve had to analyze whether I have a “love of money”? And the answer is no.
Money is an idea, nothing more. If everybody doesn’t buy into the idea, it’s essentially worthless. After all, paper, gold, etc, are only valuable because we all agree to think and act as if they are.
It’s the time I love…time with my family that won’t be sucked away by some meaningless (or even meaningful, but time-consuming) day job.
I love the ability to not have to clock in every day for the daily grind.
I love the idea of working when I feel productive, and not working when I don’t.
I love the idea of being paid based on my overall efforts, instead of an hourly rate.
I love the idea of reaching and touching “one to many” with what I have to share, whereas with a day job I only benefit one to one (or one to a few).
I love the idea of being able to travel when I want…or need. Sadly, I’ve actually missed a funeral in my family because I couldn’t afford to travel! I don’t want that to ever happen again.
I love the idea of not struggling for the basics, freely being able to help others, saving and giving to my children (& now, grandchild) when they are in need of something…
I love the idea of making a difference on a large scale for some charitable cause…
Currently, at this point in time, because we don’t live in a strictly utopian society, that all requires money.
So, it’s NOT money motivating me…It’s the things you can’t put a dollar value on (time, freedom, feeling useful/valued, etc) that only money can help me accomplish.
I definitely think there’s a distinction!

Julie,
Thanks so much…I really appreciate the feedback!! Like I said, further up, you’re fortunate to get in at ground level now, and get the proper training from day one. I won’t even recount how much bad advice, misguided advice, and general scams I fell for along the way…who knows how much all that held me back to this point?!I just thought about something – there are several recordings total for Heal Your Own Sleep…I did, I think 4 sessions for the “recorded sessions” upsell, along with several more membership trainings (the one I linked, and more to come, based in part on the feedback I get from my site members). I would be glad to give any and all members of this site free access to everything in exchange for a testimonial?
(Of course, the best testimonial for the site would be from someone who actually has insomnia, and could tell me if the site helps you with that…LOL! But I could always use the general feedback about the quality of the course material, if you are willing to provide it.)
If you are interested, drop me a private message and we’ll talk. I appreciate it!

Mark,
Thanks so much! Audio aside, it really is nice to get some feedback on it, since I’ve not gotten any to this point on the content itself. It’s good to get a listener’s perspective, especially since I tend to think my voice itself can be quite sleep-inducing. Glad to know that isn’t the case! Soothing is good (it helps in my profession, for sure), but I’m not trying to become the next Sleep Whisperer. 🙂I also thank you for your feedback regarding the audio, and glad to hear what you noticed. It validates my basic line of thought, which has been: That it isn’t 100%, but rather than tinker with it forever and wait to get it going, at least get *something* up, knowing I can always work on continuing to improve it. I think if this niche was MMO, it might sound suspect that I can’t afford a better sound card or whatever, LOL. But in this case, my only concerns are for it to be listenable and to sound professional enough for people to feel they got what they paid for. Of course, it *is* hard not to get frustrated, because I do want it to sound better, but again, as long as it’s not horrible, it’s something to start with. At least, that’s what I keep reassuring myself!
Again, I appreciate your listening to it and for your thoughts. I will check for your PM.
P.S. (Edit): Uh-oh, I just read your PM! But maybe my voice being that soothing to the point of sleep would be a good thing – if nothing else, my customers could overcome their insomnia just by listening? 😉

I’ve had issues with the mic on this computer from day 1. When I mess with the settings, it goes from so-so to completely awful, but no really great sound. Maybe an external mic would fix it, but I’m pretty sure its related to the computer itself.

Donna,
Thanks! Yes, I used Clickbank last time around because the built-in affiliates appealed to me. And indeed, I did see lots of affiliates (or at least a few, making several efforts) blogging, etc, about my product, in hopes of getting a commission. It’s just that it was SUCH a pain to set up the PitchPlus upsells!! That’s the part that kind of scares me to do it again. Otherwise, it would probably be my first choice! But it’s probably easily enough done by hiring someone on Fiverr to save me the hassle!!I Use Reviews

Thanks, Dana, sounds like a good option. Sounds like it was easy to integrate, too – a definite plus!

Sean,
That’s exactly what I want to avoid! That’s why I am really trying to research my options.
That said…I don’t want to get too afraid of making the wrong choice – to the point that I never get it launched! For that reason, I’m trying to be cautious, but not go overboard on the research! (There has to be a happy medium in there somewhere, right?)I Use Reviews

I hadn’t thought about that, but that is good thinking. I usually set out or at least choose tomorrow’s outfit for work the night before…so it makes perfect sense to have the workout clothes there too..set out someplace where I’ll see them first, before I even think about the work clothes!

Sean,
Love how your routine is structured, but not down to the hour or minute. It seems like it would keep you on focus without making it so restrictive you set yourself up for failure!I Use Reviews

OK…but you are also a PhD psychologist, right?
What more do you need?Between you and me, I thought I had to be a “professional” (I was in the process of getting my clinical when I came up with my site idea initially). I thought having that clinical added to my credibility. But that’s because of my field, where having a clinical license and a Masters degree is kind of the expectation to be perceived as any sort of “expert”.
Likewise…I believe people will find you adequately knowledgeable simply because you have a PhD behind your name.

Thanks, Norma! Gives me even more to consider. I’d heard about E-junkie in the past, and wondered how it all integrated. Also heard good things about ThriveCart and wanted to check them out too. I appreciate the info!

What about specializing in persuasive writing techniques?
Then you could market it as, “learn the psychology of selling to people through writing”. You know, teach about the basic drives and desires which make people motivated to buy.
You could have upsells of “advanced psychology techniques to add to your writing,” and done-for-you packages where you actually offer your writing services to them. (There’s a site I am thinking of that offers writing services…can’t remember the name, but they charge a hefty amount…so much per page written for you. And I’m sure they make a nice living doing so, too.)
And of course, 1:1 coaching for people who already have a vision and want some advice on tailoring it for greater sales to their own product or service…

Steve,
That’s a really good point! I think the knee-jerk reaction is to want to be as broad as possible, because you assume (at least, I’ve tended to), “more broad = more sales”.From everything I hear, the opposite is true: the more specific you are, the more targeted of an audience you’ll get who will be interested in what you have to offer.

Well just to clarify, yes, my main goal is to build my list from the start. Right now I have a list of 15 people – including me (LOL). These are people who found my site (through the YouTube videos I’ve been making, maybe), and joined on their own. So far I’ve been focusing on getting the rest of the funnel in place. But I do have a lead capture on my site and plan to definitely get those leads. I do see what you mean about the value of owning your list.

Oh wow, thanks Tina! I hadn’t even realized the option to do an affiliate program through WordPress existed!
And yes, I will definitely be interested to hear how your Clickbank experience goes!! Any chance I can hire you to put mine up when you’re finished?! LOL…I’m sure there’s a good market for that, because from what I remember last time, it was a complete headache. And I did have to get some help!!

Yes, you got me perfectly! I don’t mind eventually paying the fee for Paypal recurring billing…But only after I have the audience to justify it. It’s a good reminder to see Clickbank, or anything else, as only one means to an overall end.
Scott? Feel free to chime in… 🙂
Yes, I can definitely use his good advice on the most efficient way to do that.I Use Reviews

Ha ha awesome! I love that story!
I’ve finally learned, at least a little. Last time around I made a 12-session video series that never even ended up selling. This time, I am aiming for the first week of training and saying “let me know what you’d like to see” for getting feedback, and when I get the first sale start popping out the rest from a ready-to-go outline!I Use Reviews

Good point! And I had not seen that analogy elsewhere, so I am glad you repeated it.
