I think that’s a good idea, Scott. One reason I joined is so that we could all assist each other get to where we need to go.
Whether that meant getting views on a video, critiquing sales copy or commenting on a forum.

I think adding a little structure for this, like your post would be a good way to start.

Does this have anything to do with Sean decoupling the forum from his coaching program?
I’m not exactly sure what the result of this will be or that the message went out as intended.

I received the message to my ‘non-coaching client’ email but not to the one I communicate with Sean as a client.

    One clarification before I post on your forum;
I’ve been told by some that Law of attraction is outside the norm of religious/spiritual content.

Personally, I see most people using Law of Attraction as the starting point but there are many more universal laws.

    Hi Don,

Typically an affiliate link as a snippet appended to the URL.
This snippet signifies who the sale would be credited to.

You can set this up through a platform that does it for you, like ClickBank.
Or you can use plugins if you use WordPress.

I wish I could offer more info here, but I’ve always been on the affiliate end.
Ie: they give me a URL that tracks my sales and promotion.

I’ve only looked into promoting to other affiliates.

Hope this helps, at least a bit 🙂

If you don’t have a ton of affiliates, you might consider doing it manually as well.

You can set up a different page and payment button for each affiliate and then pay them accordingly.

It would make a good smaller product.

I’d love a little more feedback and questions on the topic first to know what people want to have more detail on.

Plus I’m furiously working on extracting my already finished products to get them in a sellable and easily deliverable form.
Since they were previously delivered to small groups via email then need central download pages.

I don’t think people can comment if they are not logged in, but anyone can see the main “Ask Anything” forum.
Whether or not they are a member, or logged in.

In fact, some great stuff from PreneurPal is showing up in organic searches.

People may be looking around without logging in if that was the case they would not show in the ‘last active’ list of members.

I wrote a blog post on a topic that has come up several times over the past weeks with a couple I am working with.

Thought it might be fitting under this thread.

    Thanks Steve, for the feedback!

I was a little frustrated with that builder, but a little time with their tech support and I updated it pretty quickly.

It’s now also MUCH MORE in line with my signature program as this week I’ve been focusing on my main area of training and what I want to be known for in 2018.

I’d love any feedback on the new sq page.

Yes great point, Facebook is a means to an end – as a way to get people ON your list.

You can send them wherever you want. Your blog, a squeeze page, article, video, or another site/page within Facebook.

Any of these strategies can be used to take the conversation OFF FB where you have more control.
But it’s the same with many platforms. If you publish a guest post, advertise, do an interview, etc. you also want to bring people back to your list.

It’s just one of many places to find people to engage with.
Keeping in mind with FB you won’t have much success if you don’t first do the work of finding engaged groups that have the need you serve.

I just thought I’d add my 2 cents.

I had ignored the friend requests for a time because the friend and group functionality was not in place.
I’ve responded to a few requests but I think that it really does not serve much of a purpose at this time.

As far as member login, I check regularly to see if there is a topic I can help on or if I have a question.

You can pop in and check the “Ask Anything” forum without being logged in.
In that case, it would not show in the recent member logins.

Finally got it! Maybe I had a typo in the link code earlier.

For anyone who wants to create a clickable link, use this line of code.

    For example;
    <a href="http://www.thischangesthegame.com/">ThisChangesTheGame.com!</a>

Using your own full URL and text.
The system will automatically change the link to “nofollow”.

    Part 3

I think many of you have looked at Step 1 and Step 2 and determined that this is all way too much work.
And in one way all agree.

There are more hands off ways to become visible on Facebook and you can use the same principles with this technology.

I’ve actually given you all the steps you need, even if you use the sharing tools.

    It’s not that difficult.
The key is to create shareable content whether it be visually or in written form and share it get it in front of people on a regular basis.

So in this step I’m not so much going to give you what to do as a how to think.

It’s all too easy to share our product or service features or to share the benefits.
And there’s a place for that.

But I found there are two things that work in Facebook number one is to be open or you might call it vulnerable.

Sharing Insider secrets telling stories of how you messed something up and how you discovered new way to fix it or even a childhood story that taught you a lesson.

Remember the key is Facebook is a social platform and to really be effective in Facebook you need to work within that social frame.

And # 2 – Like anything you would write to get people’s attention you want to have a strong opening line.

Facebook post is not literally have a headline but you do have an opening line.

You want to grab their attention get them to keep reading and then give them an action to take.

    So a good format is;
    – An exciting or strong opening line
    – A story in which you learned a lesson.
    – Then tie that story into your offer
    – And give them a call to action.

One last thing about how to think when you are writing your Facebook post is that you need to speak to a very specific problem.

For example as one person shared with me when I was learning this myself the difference between considering the purchase of a toothpick sometime or wanting a toothpick now is whether or not I have something in my teeth.

What is the specific issue that your client has and that you are there to solve?

So to recap the thought process of your sharing and post is a strong opening line or you might consider it a headline

You want to grab someone’s attention and get them to want to read more.

Tell a story and the story can be about some kind of transformation it should give an idea or sample of what you can do or maybe a breakthrough that you had that you also teach your clients.

Then make sure that you are speaking specifically to a pain point and always give a call to action.

The exception of course is when you are being purely social.

    I completely agree, Scott.

There is definitely more than one way to look at this and getting rid of everything is not the answer.

I would never remove something from the house that has value to someone else.
My husband has a t-shirt from the 70’s, faded and full of holes, but he’ll never get rid of it.

I don’t live in a sparse empty house.
I was the only child who wanted my grandmother’s things, my life is full of her memories.

I still cook with her kitchen supplies and I will until they are unusable, because they bring me joy.

I also have a full china cabinet full of her china that I NEVER use and hope to pass on to someone who will someday.
But again, it brings me back to the independent, eccentric lady who influenced my life in such a big way.

The same thing with my favorite uncle’s jacket (who’s passed) and the ‘Kermit the frog’ jacket my mom made me.
I’ll probably never get rid of them.

And then there are the people who offer you their loved ones possessions at the memorial – I’m not sure I could do that – but we all have our own way of dealing with things.

For some, knowing the item is going to someone who will give it a little more life, is comforting.

The question is “Do they (Does it) give you joy?”

On another vein I’ve survived 2 house fires, and even tho’ we did not lose everything we owned, I know what it feels like to lose what you thought you must have and be able to do without it.

Our past can’t help but form who we are.

    Best,
    Julia

    Hey Robert,

Great question and I agree with Bruce about the material on this site.
Going through The Blueprint section of this site will clarify a lot of things for you.

And once you have done it for yourself you can help others do something similar.

Clarity is THE KEY to moving forward. If you don’t know EXACTLY where you’re going … any road looks good.

Side roads are fine if you want to take a drive and explore but it will make the trip awfully long!

Your clients and customers want to be something new after they learn from you.
    Think transformation not information.

Yes, we use information to get them there, but how will you help them make a transformation in their life?

    So in addition to the blueprint question, ask yourself;

    How do you define slavery?
    How do you define freedom?
What steps do they need to take to make the transformation from the life of slavery you define to the life of freedom you define?

    Hope this helps,
    Julia

Thanks Sean, I think we all need to be reminded sometimes that nothing in life is handed to us.

It’s all to easy to forget how long and hard we worked to master something – after the fact.

You don’t have any idea how many times you fell to the floor before you learned to walk.
Or how about your day job, the school and training it took to get in the position – or maybe you learned on the job – either way it took some time.

You don’t walk in as the master.

But we hear and see SO OFTEN that this should be easy and if it’s not, we’re losers.

I’m blessed to be in a family of entrepreneures on both mine and my husbands side.

Over the holiday several of us kind of ganged up on a spunky 18 yr old (mine 🙂 ).
She wanted to know why we were always saying we worked so hard when from the outside it looked so easy.

The result was a chain of stories of working other jobs to pay for an entrepreneurial venture, trying things that failed but getting up and trying again anyway, paying the staff more than you got paid, etc.

But every one of us also had the story of how we kept at it and things turned around.

The stories inspired me. It’s easy to forget how much it does take and we don’t often tell those stories UNTIL someone is in close proximity to us because telling someone you might have to work harder than you ever have in your life, test your limits like never before, break down-
almost quit but then find a way out, well… maybe it’s not great marketing material.

I think the big question is “Why do we expect this to be so ‘push-button’ easy??????”

What a great thread. Concerning your quote Sean, I’ve heard it called “clean-slate” thinking and have attended a seminar several past-year’s Decembers where we plan out the upcoming year while leaving the failures of the past behind.

This gives you free reign to map out where you want to go without old limitations.

Like Sean said above, I feel like this is more a choice than a habit – but habits begin with choice so (splitting hairs??)

One of my best habits is to create more content than I consume.

It became all too easy to spend my days reading, attending trainings, watching videos in all-out learning mode.

And because there was not outflow for all the input I became very stagnant.
Even tho’ I was learning so much … I couldn’t think of what to write.
I always has too many ideas in my head to get anything solid started.

One thing I had noticed is that I had stopped my daily journaling, so I started to write every day again.
This brought me out of my funk and over time I came to the realization that I was taking in way more than I could process.

So I started “making something” out of everything I learned.
For a time I created an article, infographic, email, quote image, etc from every lesson I was taking in.

Over time it simply developed into the idea of being a content creator rather than a content consumer, and it’s stuck.

So one of my best habits is to create more content than I consume.
Put another way – to be a content creator rather than a content consumer.

I think you are in good company, Sean!

As a rule of thumb, if you have not used it in a year you probably don’t need it.

This takes into account seasonal items that only come out once a year.

An exception would be things that you use, but not frequently (BUT you actually use them).

For example, one family I worked with has a sausage stuffer.
They only make summer sausage every few years when they have access to a specific type of meat.
But they do use it, so this would be a keeper.

Same family has a smoker that they thought would be a great addition but have never used.
    This would need to go.

Ultimately it is a personal choice. It’s not about law or rules. Some things are easier than others.
A good question to ask when considering keeping an item is does it give you joy?

If yes, keep. If you are holding on to it because someone gave it to you, you paid good money for it, it’s still useful, etc, etc… it may be time to get rid of it.

It’s not about saving money, living tiny, budgeting or doing without …. it’s thinking about what you really love, want and need and not being burdened with the rest.

    Thanks Leslie, great questions.

I’ll tackle them one at a time before moving on to part 3.

    1) I don’t want all my best stuff just getting posted within FB groups for all to see, I want my best stuff to be reserved for those joining my list.
I think the days are gone when you could give people just a taste and it would be enough for them to sign on to try more.
If you want loyal followers you have to give your best stuff. Also there is no way to give it all away in a post of a few paragraphs.

You can also reserve some secret insider stuff for your subscribers – this is natural – a person would not be able to understand or put into practice your higher level stuff before they know your basics.

When I was assisting with seminars for a local economic development group more than one trainer came in and told me they had no fear of giving away their secrets for 2 reasons.
#1 Mediocre information is available everywhere and I (the seminar trainer) want to stand out.
#2 Less than 2% will ever act on the information anyway, so there is no real reason to fear your best stuff will all of a sudden be public knowledge.

And I’ll say #3 Post disappear quickly in Facebook so you would actually have to post it many times for the whole group to see it just once. But I also believe that the people who need to see it will, if you’re diligent to ‘get it out there’.

    2) How do you motivate, and discipline yourself to spend weeks within FB groups, some of which you can’t really condone, due to “iffy” behavior and language?
See #4 – As far as motivation and discipline I think that is the same for just about everything – it comes from a deep rooted reason to do it.
Why does a person stay at a job they don’t like?
Why does a person keep working at a marriage that’s having trouble?
Why do you keep teaching a difficult child?
Why do you get your car to the mechanic (or fix it yourself) even tho’ it will cost you (time or money)?

Because there is a reason why…
You need the $ to take care of your family, pay the mortgage etc.
You have a love and commitment that’s worth fighting for.
you see potential in the child they are not ready to see in themselves.
You don’t want to walk 🙂

    3) Do you have any secrets that help to keep you sane and your mind laser targeted on the task in hand.
My biggest “secret” is not that I stay laser focused but that I’ve disciplined myself to get BACK ON TASK.
I can’t always help what gets thrown at me, but I am in control of what I do with it.
So the biggest habit I’ve built is to check in with myself to become aware of whether or not what I’m doing is leading me to my desired outcome.

    4) How did you build up that habit…especially when dealing with groups that became distasteful to you?
I don’t stay in groups that are distasteful to me. I see how that could be misunderstood by the way I phrased my earlier input.
But the reason I encourage you to start with 20 groups is so that you can find the 3 -5 groups you really click with.
People you like and who you want to help. there is no reason to stay if you don’t.

I’ll add step 3 in another response.

    Take care,
    Julia

I also think it’s helpful to remember that resistance to anything new is real.
Biologically, we are wired to resist change and yes, I’ve seen in my own life where it seems like my own body is against me.

I can’t think of one live course that I’ve taken from Sean where I didn’t get sick.
Big time resistance to change – and I know that about myself.

But it also tells me I’m on the right path.

No resistance?? Then it really does not mean anything to me.

Big time resistance??? Then I better find a way to wrap my head around the fact that I’m pushing through, no matter what – and my body will fall in line.

On a side note – I think humans in general are all too pushed around by how they feel.

Pick up a hammer and saw to try your hand at building a bookshelf and your arm gets sore so you quit.
Start a new exercise routine and sleep through your alarm and never start.
Trying to write your book and you get drowsy or distracted so only the first chapter gets done.

The body had become what controls us instead of our mind.
The mind is meant to be the task-master and the body is to follow behind.

But, as it was explained to me many years ago, our body is more like an unruly pet – undisciplined and a maker of messes yet still allowed to be part of the family. When a good dose of obedience school can make all the difference.

I didn’t mean to go off on that tangent only to say that I think pushing through is often a good thing.

Yes, sometimes our bodies do truly need rest but more often than not we need to make it a habit to do what needs to be done, no matter how we feel.

And I encourage you, don’t let that resistance stop you from doing what you really want to do.

As an added edit – I hope what I said is not taken wrong. I almost deleted it but I think it is one key to my success.
I DO push through when I don’t feel like it. And I know that feelings (for me it’s especially of fatigue) is my way of avoiding things.
So #1 – it’s the awareness of your own sabotaging traits ’cause we all have them and #2 Doing what needs to be done anyway.

I in NO WAY meant that if you are sick that you don’t need to rest.

I recently took several weeks and unplugged from electronics (plus spent part of the time sick) and I came back stronger than ever.
So I know there is a place for rest as well.

    All the best,
    Julia

    Facebook Step 2

Before I give Step 2 I want to emphasize that my focus here is on “free” traffic.
In other words – paying with your time instead of your dollars.

Also, if you focus and get things done while in FB and don’t get sucked into your feed, it does not take that much time.

My biggest time chunk was outlining my ideas and writing quick posts to copy/paste.
Which I did either early mornings or one weekend afternoon.

    Here goes……

    First you might be thinking;
Can you start getting people to your offer sooner?
    Maybe.

Are you showing up in the group often and being super helpful?
If so then you might have enough exposure to start offering a link to your blog or free e-course after a week or two.

But if all you’ve done is join the group but are not working to become a part of the group, your information won’t be well received.

Once you have spent a few weeks developing relationships you can start promoting.

    Some not-too-in-your-face ways to promote in groups is;
    – An image or meme with your URL embeded in the image
    – A link to a helpful blog post
    – Send people to where you have an article on someone else’s platform, podcast, interview, etc. (Then your resource should send them to your site)
    – Or simply make an offer to help when you answer questions

Remember too that you have the option to message people and that friends will be more likely to see your messages.

I made a conscious effort to “Friend” people in the groups that I enjoy to make communication easier.

Next – you’ll need to post regularly, so how do you come up with all the content?

I never added curated content, I always wanted to refer people to my own stuff or write something specifically for the groups I was in.

I worked on a 5 day schedule. (My groups tended to be quieter on the weekends.)
And I developed several posts per week.

Either by coming up with 3 quick posts a day during my morning writing OR developing posts over the weekend.

I would quickly post three times a day and then spend 30 minutes in the evening being social.

The key is to get in and get out – it’s all too easy to get sucked into reading and chasing articles.

It’s helpful to adopt the mindset of a content creator NOT a content consumer.

So back to how I distributed the content.

You don’t want to post the same content in every group at the same time so I use a rotating schedule.

It all starts with 5-7 main post ideas and then when you jump in (quickly) during the day you can either add a comment to your original post or post something similar.

I usually had 3 distinct posts that kind of worked together and referred to each other throughout the day.

I cut and pasted the posts and images I used so I could jump in and out of the groups quickly.

Some groups will move a little slower, so one post a day is plenty.
In some groups your post will move down the page fast, so posting the same post or something very similar will give it some new views.

When I was there to post, I did not read anything I just got in and got out.

My daily schedule took about 15 minutes at 7am, noonish and 7pm or after dinner.
Then if I had time I would ‘like’ and comment for a bit in the evening.
Honestly, after my first few “socializing” weeks I rarely socialized more than twice a week for about 30 – 45 minutes. (Usually while watching TV.)

You can see in the image how I rotated a limited amount of content through the groups to avoid multiple of the same posts in a single day.
    (This spams your friends’ feeds)

You’ll have to do a planning session before the next step so I’ll stop here and ask.

Have you got any questions or want to know more?

Very well said. When you look around and see people doing something similar it can cause you to put on the brakes.
It has done that to me before.

I try to remember that my ideal client is so much like me.
We run in the same circles.
We’re learning from the same folks.
Reading the same books, articles, etc.

It’s only natural that someone else would get a similar idea.

And it will never be delivered the same from them as it is from YOU.

What comes from inside is filtered through your own life experiences and you have things to share that no one else can do in just the same way.

    Robert,

I feel for you. I know how a stressful day job can leave you feeling like you just don’t have anything left at the end of the day.

    My advice to you would be to use the information in the training area starting with;

Introduction to Creating a Blueprint For Your Business

And get clear on what you want to do.

As for Coaching, you can get you to income quickly and it has little set-up.

You can coach from home, on the phone with mostly free tools.

One annual or 6 month client at 3K would get you close to what you need and you only need to do enough marketing to add one client per month.
You can reach them offline or online.

I think the main reason people don’t jump in and coach is confidence.
But to me, confidence starts with a clear plan, and that you can get right in this forum.

The next step is to carve out time every day to do the work.

You could even start an accountability thread, right here!

    So to summarize;
I don’t think anyone can answer the tough questions for you, you have to get clear on them yourself.
Once you have a clear plan, make room in your day to do the work every day.
Make yourself accountable in some way.

      Start thread here
Email or text someone every day
      Give someone a call
Set up a buddy at your day job

Just make sure they are someone who won’t let you off the hook.

And finally, accountability is not blame – give yourself permission to rise to new heights and forgiveness when you don’t live up to your ambitions.

Whether it’s a side hustle or a full time coaching biz you’ll grow more and deal with more than you ever did at your day job.
You’ll find you have to make tough decisions.
You’ll find you have to make sacrifices in order to stay on track.
You’ll find you have to renew your commitment over and over again.

I personally think it’s worth it! But you have to find a way to be your own cheerleader and not your personal saboteur.

Let me know if I can help in any way,
    Julia

Yes, I do think minimalism means different things to different people and that it is sometimes hard to define what is “needed”.

Which is the core of my definition of minimalism.

As has been attributed to Albert Einstein – “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”

It is definitely possible to go to extremes.

But I think it’s all in learning. We did, for a time, leave out only one of each regularly used kitchen utensil and a single plate, cup and set of flatware for each member in the household.

This gave us the awareness of what we really needed day-to-day.

For me, minimalism in no way indicates doing without. In fact the thought process is more towards having the best and doing more of what I want to do.
If I am going to move forward with a single choice, I want it to be the best.

So it’s a matter of choosing quality and what really meets my need rather than having just to have.

I had, for a long time, leaned in this direction anyway – I am a nomad at heart and do not see the need to drag possessions from place to place.

I’ve yet to achieve my youthful proclamation of being able to contain all I own in 5 suitcases 🙂

And the loss of several family members this last year intensified my desire to be able to go wherever I want to go (or am needed) without having to be burdened with possessions I don’t use.

I’ll stop rambling… I appreciate the input and ideas.

Scott you might want to think of your Facebook Page as blog post of sorts.

My WordPress site automatically posts to my FB page and since FB pages are public it starts showing up, first in your fans feed or notifications but it can also show as a “you might also be interested in” selection for people.

The biggest thing I look for is if people share.
It’s in people sharing your content to their audiences that you’ll get the most traction.

So, content that is “share-worthy” is a must.

Back to what I was thinking with the blog post idea….
In addition to posting you can prompt people to get more information, offer a link to an opt-in page or about me page.
Like adding an opt-in form to your blog.

You can also add this information/link to your “About” section or pin a promotional post to the top so every visitor sees it first.

This step gets people to your email list where you are already communicating with them by offering your lead magnet from your FB page.

Thanks for all the input here.

I did get a lot of good information at genderbrainscience.com/business/

    As a little background;

Most of my offline business’ consisted of mostly male workers, so I was always in the lead.
I’d take some time to get to know how each one “worked” and work with them accordingly.

I was never interested in people putting in the hours as much as I was them getting the work done.

Interestingly, when I found that one person would rather work from a list and then go home when they were done but another wanted tasks doled out to them one at a time in order to complete on thing before going to another, I never had a conflict from anyone that someone got to go home first or another was able to work longer.

Each of them was working the way they wanted to and it made for a WAY more productive crew.

More recently, I have had a mix of men and women in some group programs.

What I have experienced is that the women don’t open up as much with men “in the room”.
Since so much of what I do is about getting honest with yourself and as a result me – I have had this gender specific thought more than once.

I do feel like my articles and marketing are leaning more towards a female audience.

So… I am still on the fence but I’m considering some of the workshops as invitation only, at least at first.

    The platform itself is always a good resource;
    Facebook Live – https://www.facebook.com/help/1636872026560015
    Build a Fan Page – https://www.facebook.com/help/104002523024878/
    Create a group – https://www.facebook.com/help/167970719931213

Hubspot also has some “spot-on” (pun intended) training as well (on many topics).
    https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/facebook-live-guide

It’s intimidating to think that anything you post of Facebook is there forever…
But it’s not absolutely the case.

You can delete any post or FB live you create since you were the creator of it.
So my advice would be play/practice and get a feel for things.

    You can’t break it 🙂

    Hope this helps!

I keep it pretty simple and tend to use short “to-do” lists with no more than 3 items on it.
This reminds me of the most important things I have to do in a day and if more gets done, that’s great!

I’m also a big fan of chaos planning.
In other words, allowing chunks of the day, week and month to be unscheduled and used for catch-up if needed.

With chaos planning the stress is reduced and you can be flexible.

Instead of planning every chunk of time to get something done, plan time for things to go wrong.

    For example;
An hour of the day is reserved for chaos (playing with the cat or a nap :-))
1/2 a day a week is reserved for chaos
One long weekend a month is left open to take care of chaos (or things that were left undone)

No more pushing things into next month or rolling “To-do” lists.

The most important things get done and the rest is probably not that important anyway.

    Hi Jen,

    Great question!

    I’m in the B -> C category.
I have many things that are already completed and am still putting things together(I think that never stops).

One of my shortcomings was adding product launches into the email campaign.
So that’s what I’m working on now.

This is also a great question for your clients.
Knowing where they are in the game allows you to reach them where they are.

It’s all too easy to talk to someone where YOU are.
But to relate to them where THEY are, that’s when you can really help them.

I call it “the curse of knowledge”.

The more you know, the more difficult it can be to reverse engineer the steps you already took.
    You forget the little things.

As a kid, one of my jobs was to look at my dad’s books with “new eyes”.
He’d ask me to read them and pretend I knew nothing about the subject.

    He’d have me think through;
    Was there something he missed?
    Are all the steps included?
Could someone follow the process without needing additional information?

I can relate to the tech hang-ups! I think we all have them from time to time no matter how much we know.

Technology is fickle and sometimes we just have to find our way around it 🙂

It’s really dependent on the services you use as to how you can work within the limitations of Facebook to add an opt-in.

There are a couple of ways if you have a Facebook Page. They don’t allow them on your personal profile.

    For example;
You can add a link to your autoresponder hosted opt-in form to the button on your page. this is a good option because FB does not display the opt-in form if it is hosted on a FB tab when viewed on mobile.

With so much mobile web use, linking to an outside form or page would be a better choice.

You can also use certain services that allow you to publish to a FB tab – but there again, you would need to redirect the page for mobile viewers so they could view the opt-in form on your hosted page.

Another option is to use Facebook’s Lead Ad (paid) service which includes a contact form in the ad.

    You’re welcome Bruce!

    I wanted to clarify my thinking process, you asked;

Instead, I want to write these things for people.

If you were looking for a ghostwriter, then what topics would you want to learn about?

I wouldn’t want to learn a particular topic to be trained on because, in this case I don’t want to learn how to do it, I’m looking for a service.

If I’m coming to you for ghostwriting I want to be confident you could write like me or be able to adopt the tone and voice of my site, take good care of my audience with the info you provide and prove that you added enough value to my process that I’d be more than happy to pay you for your services.

    How do you do that?

Without giving away your secret sauce, an article about how you get to understand the tone of a site, for instance would be interesting to me as a purchaser of your service.

Or how much money could you actually save a person by writing for them? Do you have any case studies you could share?

All this being said the ‘how to do it’ steps can also be good topics because they can lead people to see #1 you know your craft and #2 its more work than I want to do so let’s pass this work on to the expert.

    Hope this helps,
    Julia

I’m not sure how helpful these will be but I have lots of questions/concerns, which is why I don’t hire someone else to do my writing 🙂

How do you know what to write for me?
Will what you write sound like me?
Can you match the voice and feeling of my site or will it feel like another author on my site?
What topics can you write on/about? Is there any topic that is off limits?
Have you ever written something for someone that has become a bestseller or made a lot of money?
What do you need from me to write a good sales letter for my product?
What is the process to write an email campaign for me?
Is ghostwriting a work together type project? In other words, how much input would I have in the end result?
I’ve tried to hire people to write articles before and they were never useable. what would you need from me in order to write a good article, sales page, email campaign, etc.?

    …and I could go on…

As we in the US celebrate Thanksgiving I’m reminded of how much we have, no matter where we are.

It’s all too easy to look at your life and see what you don’t have, what other people have gained and feel like you’ve been left behind.

I was listening to one of my favorite trainers the other day and his advice was to lower the bar to gratitude.

I’ve been guilty of looking around and see what is missing rather than see the great abundance I have, how about you?

    A roof over your head
    Blankets on your bed
    Family and friends
The sun that comes up every morning
Weather and being able to feel it on your skin
    Your pets
    Your clothes
    Your phone
    The computers(s)
A place to put things away (storage)

And then, as I think of the joy on the faces of the men, women and children in other countries and the stories I hear from the missionaries I can’t help but think of how ungrateful we can become as our lives are filled with MUCH MORE than the basics.

    We have;
    Clean water
Roads that are more than dust and bumps
More than one car in the village
“Real” solid homes with all the modern conveniences
    Schools for our children

I’ve told a story of a time in my life that I had only a roll of dimes, an old ratty car and a roof over my head left to my name.
But I had SO much more!

I knew how to work hard and was not afraid to ask for something to do and get paid for it.
I had a reputation for being reliable so people were not afraid to take a chance on me
    And most of all…
I knew deep down inside that it would all be good – eventually. It always was.

The toughest of times seem to only be a part of the cycle of things.

And while it might not be the thing that we’d have wished for, it could just be the thing that gives you the strength to do bigger things in the future.

So as you celebrate being thankful for family, friends and food keep in mind there are 1000’s of things in your life you take for granted.

If, for a day or two, you’ll notice those things and send them a little gratitude, I believe you’ll find your life flooded with things to be grateful for.

And nothing empowers you like Gratitude.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My first digital paycheck, so to speak was for around $600.

I was in a group that was learning to coach on a specific topic and many of them were struggling to get started online.

I offered to coach them for 6 weeks to do what I had already done and just broke down my monthly rate ($97/month at the time)
to a weekly rate and charged them all $149 for the 6 weeks.

50% of the group took me up on it 🙂

I may never change the world 🙂

The quote from Hacksaw Ridge often runs through my head “Lord, let me help one more”.

I find if I think about changing the world everything goes to global for me.
My writing is not as effective and my teaching does not hit the mark.

But when I focus in on that one heart, that one person who has a need, I can reach many.

So I guess I would say, the way I will change the world is by helping one, and then one more, and then one more, and then one more, and then one more, and then one more……

And if they happen to be in a group of 10’s or 100’s or 1000’s, all the better, but the connection is with ONE.

I did an audio on this just a few days ago.

The topic was on how you can know you have clarity and not just acting on a current distraction.

Like most things that have to be put into practice, it is difficult to put into a few words.

For me, there is always a moment of simply knowing I’m on the right track.
Next, I have a defined and measurable goal and action steps.
When your’re clear about where you’re going – each action builds on the next, no matter how small.

If you’re not going anywhere or find yourself back in the same place over an over again, chances are you need to get more clarity on where you want to go OR you need to add time to reevaluate whether or not what you are doing is working.

    One thing I find missing in a lot of entrepreneurs life is a simple evaluation of;
“What worked – what didn’t – what do I need to do more of – what do I need to get rid of”.

I learned how to do this as a part of public workshops and community events.
There was always a time immediately after the event to get feedback from the crew on what we could do better next time so each event was an improvement on the previous.

As “solo” entrepreneurs we don’t always evaluate our actions on a daily or weekly basis.
And because of this, we often travel down a path we don’t mean to for longer than intended.

When if we’d just looked around and asked some good questions we could get ourselves back on the road we want to be on.

The ability to change the browser tag is in the SEO settings for the title of the page.

I’m not sure what builder you are using or I might be of more help 🙂

Squeeze pages are a funny thing, they need to appeal to your ideal client, so me not liking it or liking it might not mean a thing.

Please take this as it’s intended (not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings here), but I would not click through that page. It’s well thought out and put together correctly but it feels harsh.
Especially for a page that is showing me how to use the power of love.

I would love to see a picture of you or maybe change the text and button on the left to a softer shade (blue comes to mind).

All that being said, I do love the thank you page. It feels warm and personal.

    Hi Kristin,

I think it looks great and I like the red, especially for the cover page.
You might want to change the main text to a neutral color to make it easier to read.

Also, are you creating your content in Word then exporting as a PDF?
If so you can automatically create an anchored Table of Contents.
(A quick google search will give you those steps)

You can do a similar thing in Open Office.

I also like the way you prompt them and give them the space to implements what you are teaching.
    Makes it much more consumable.

    Congratulations Tina!

The pledge is just the beginning, now the real work of keeping yourself on track begins 🙂

Be sure to reach out if I can be of any assistance to you, I’d be glad to help!

Your dreams can become your reality when you give it the time you need.

I was sharing with someone just yesterday about “creating your reality”. A bit woo woo, I know, but here goes….

The thing is, what you see in your life NOW is only a reflection of what you have thought and done in your PAST.
It does not have to determine where you go in your future.

But, you MUST put the energy and effort into TODAY to build what you want if you are going to see it in your future.

This is where the real effort is. Our present is so “real” so prevalent that it can be difficult to keep bringing yourself back to the “path to the future”.

The thing is, you have to have a way to keep reminding yourself of where you’re going AND make yourself get back on the path there IF you want to change what you see in your world (in the future).

    Hope this helps.
Reach out if you need a pep talk – you got this!

My friends and family are supportive, for the most part. But many of them are also offline entrepreneurs.

But I don’t explain it as an IM business, it’s just my business and like the business I do offline, online is simply another branch of my business (done primarily online).

    Hi Claire,

First I want to say you are not alone in this. In fact, not charging enough or charging at all is very common.
If it weren’t, there wouldn’t be 100’s of programs out there to help you change your “money mindset”.

I think entrepreneurship is a lifelong journey of self-development.
So one mindset training is not going to change your life forever. If money is an issue for you, you’ll probably need to confront it over and over again.

What I mean is that there is never going to be a free ride to confidence, money and success that you can hop on and go along for the ride.
As much as we’d like it to be that way it happens the other way around.

It’s not until you take action in the face of fear that you get courage. If the fear is around money than that fear will NEVER go away (no matter how much mindset work you do) until you set a price and sell something.

But then, once you take the action it becomes that much easier and then even easier the next.

So you might want to start with a low ticket offer and sell multiple at that low price.
I would bet it won’t take long to start feeling like you should get paid more for what you’re offering.

Who knows… after a little bit, you might even want to raise prices.

Concerning a timebound goal, I find that setting a deadline is a good idea, even if you miss your deadline.
Setting a goal to be achieved ‘someday’ never gets achieved (which I’m sure no one in this thread is arguing 🙂 )

This being said, I find that some outside pressure in the form of an upcoming class, coaching call or lesson I have to deliver is a great motivator.

Even when no one showed I always taught my classes and sent the recordings out even if it was to a select group of nonpaying subscribers.
This way I was prepared to deliver the material and moved one step closer.

One of my mantras is always have someone to learn from and someone to teach. The person you learn from should require ‘homework’ and if they don’t, require it from yourself. Then teach what you are learning to make sure you are not just learning, but actually absorbing the information to the point that you can share what you’ve learned.

This can be a formal relationship such as a coach and student or a casual accountability partner.
I learned the basics of this from my Dad years ago as I watched him master things he wanted to learn.

To answer your question -“Is there another system you currently use or used in the past that has worked well for you?”

The best advice I can give is to take the time to get real clarity about your goal.

One of my favorite exercises is the 7 levels of Why.
    1) Ask yourself what is IMPORTANT to you about becoming, having or doing what you want to do?
    2) Once you get that answer replace the “becoming, having or doing what you want to do” with your previous answer.
    3) Repeat this question (each time including your new answer/awareness) 7 levels deep to find what the true motivator is for you.

It’s not an easy exercise and it is very tempting to end early so you don’t get too emotional.
But if you take it seriously and ask 7 levels deep you can often find a motivator that will help you through just about anything.

The updated layout seems to be much easier to read and find what you’re looking for.

I liked B and D (including the ability to upvote the most useful answers).

A looks a bit outdated and C still requires you to search through many answers.

I have to agree with David as far as if each of us contributes our own knowledge, as a group we can go farther.

Lots of our skills might not be related to our chosen niche so sharing how we can help would be necessary.

Maybe an additional training center by members /for members (??)

And as Don says, the participation is what will keep the forum alive.

    I wish I could up-vote that Tina!

I’d like to know if a thread receives a reply and be able to @ someone if I want their input.
Not sure if that’s do-able or a good idea as the group gets larger but it would help in following the threads.

I’m having difficulty even searching my own threads, it’s like they disappeared when the other topic thread changed.

All this being said, I do find people are sharing well thought out answers for the most part.

As a whole, it feels like we’re starting to shift gears. Going from the initial push to fill the forum up with topics to a place that can be genuinely helpful.

Also, some people will hold back if there are not clear guidelines.
    For instance, when Sean quoted from another thread (How do you stay motivated when you aren’t making any money?), it took me a little off guard;

If you are doing things that DON’T lead to your goal . . . anything that doesn’t lead to it . . anything outside of:

    create squeeze page
    create products
    write a daily email
tell everyone possible about your squeeze page

If you are doing things outside of that and hoping they’ll give you the same results . . . they won’t!

the whole idea here is to encourage you and encourage others and for others to encourage each other – to do THOSE steps and share your work to help you stay motivated to stay on track and do those 4 steps!

I added the bold for emphasis and maybe I took it out of context.

I do know that we can be all over the place 🙂

Maybe an introduction and “Get Started Here, This is How the Place Works” is in order.

I know that another paid forum I was a part of for years was only open to former students of the training.
This led naturally to conversations around the core topics.

Years ago, decades actually, I bought my first wife a car. I was at this car lot, it was cold and I was looking over each car I thought would be an acceptable possibility. The salesman in a thin blazer answered a few questions and then said, come inside I want to talk with you.

He told me, “People don’t buy cars, they buy stories. It is cold outside, why don’t you tell me what story you want and I will match that up with the car?” …

Quite a lesson in this story Scott.

If you are not writing a book, you could compile one using your replies in this forum!

This may no longer be true, but awhile back I read that the free version of MailChimp does not allow affiliate offers. You can get away with it for awhile, but eventually they will stop you from mailing out free – would be worth checking to see if it still applies.

    Dana,

    A little off topic but…
There are actually many autoresponder services that do not encourage affiliate offers, even if they don’t ban you outright.
It’s because they are often riddled with purchased lists and spam sends.

This is one of the reasons MailChimp (until recently) made it so difficult to build a single opt-in list.

Keeping your list clean is of course the best way to stay out of trouble and make sure what you offer your subscribers is what they receive.

As for autoresponder charges, I use AWeber because I’m most familiar with them and … you know … change is hard 🙂
Comparing one to service to another is more an offering of service and what I need than the price.

I also want something I can stay with for the long haul and not have to start over.

That being said, I do back up my list info regularly so I can move if I need to.
