I love to use Libre Office Free equivalent of Microsoft Office). It is kept up to date regularly and totally free, unless you want to make voluntary donation. I also have Open Office, but I think Libre Office has more flexibility.

Hi Bruce,
Well I made a modest income from selling physical used books on Amazon from around 2007. The economic crash along with several other adverse factors started to erod my profits around 2010. But the profits continued to be useful until around 2012. At that time I started to look for other projects to replace the lost book income and eventually replace it altogether.
But I never followed through on these other projects, and I cashed in a couple of smaller pensions to finance the purchase of scores of BSOs, and not all cheap ones I can assure you. To mention everything I looked at doing online would take forever, but I never stuck with any of them. I always managed to find an excuse as to why they would not work. Then procrastination would set in until the next BSO came along.
For the last 3 years I have become more serious in my search for online success, and the last year absolutely serious, as my book income is now negligible. I have no more pensions or savings on which to call upon, so I have to knuckle down, and build slow, due to my tight financial budget.

Hi Diana,
How about breaking some of your PLR content down and re-purposing it into video. No need to show your face if you don’t want to. Just narrate over slides, or hire someone from Fiverr…or even this community. Or just record audio segments. Or turn the PLR into cheat sheets (for busy people who don’t have time to read 10,000 word giveaways) to use as Leads Magnets.
I’m a non tech person myself, but there is so much expertise within this community, that you can always ask for tips or trainings that others on here recommend. There is a lot of excellent, free advice out there. And if you are unsure about the advice, you find, run it past us in here. We are all here to help each other.
Also you will find a YouTube instructional video on just about any technical skill you can possibly imagine. People often forget that while they are watching cute cat videos, and it’s all free. I personally subscribe to around 30 channels, run by people who know what they are talking about and give away there time and expertise for nothing…nada. Look up “Best ways to re-purpose PLR” on Google or YouTube and then subscribe to those who best answer your question/s.

Hi Bruce, Norma and Sean,
Norma: Some interesting self analysis. But you are getting there from what you say. Keep it up. We are all behind you.
Bruce: You are exactly right, of course, I have to be easier on myself, convert that negative energy into positive drive, and continually move forward toward my goals regardless.
Sean: You are very sensible, as usual:) Bringing us all back down to earth with a huge, but logical bump. Interestingly enough the teleseminar, you held earlier today, provided me with an excellent alternative to taking on the big beasts head on, and in any niche. And that is to go deeper than the established experts are prepared to go, and further into what the prospect really needs to ease their pain, or solve their problem.

Hi Robert,
I am not really a religious person, but that does not stop me from being a spiritual one.
Therefore, I sincerely hope you achieve your dreams, whatever they may be. And in doing so help innumerable other people.
Harpy Birthday by the way, and many more to come.

Hi Norma,
Thanks for the timely reminder, I have now completed the profile. I love how you can change your statements, at a late date also.
One point for everyone:
I have not got a website yet, and I noticed that when I tried to complete “your current website URL” box with wording something like: “I haven’t got one to date” It would not accept any wording.
So I suspect that the final, URL details box is coded only to accept actual URLs.

Bruce,
I must admit I sometimes look at successful online business people, and it seems such a distant prospect to get to be anywhere close to what they have achieved. A pipe dream if you would.
It’s not envy, but it’s partly self shame that I have not done a lot more over the last few years. Now with far more years of life behind me than ahead, I also feel it is becoming a race against time. Consequently I tend to place massive, almost unbearable, levels of mental pressure upon myself which then leads to procrastination and inertia.
A vicious circle I must break out of I know. I must take things one step at a time, although I must still aim high. But, in the end, if I don’t quite reach the most dizzy heights of success, at least I might have created enough passive income to provide worry free, financial freedom for myself and my wife.

I like B and D. D is easier to navigate around and B has a nice upvote function, which acts as a magnet for more people to read, as it is a sign that quality can be found there. The downside of that latter point, however, is that other ideas may be overlooked, as people flock to the popular topics, and not always to learn and/or add value but just out of curiosity.
Whatever we end up with we must, as Sean has said avoid, at all costs, the Facebook group and/or Warrior forum “mentality”, to creep into our very special, business oriented community.

Hi Sean,
I’m broadly with you on your suggestions. But I would temper them with the wisdom that Don Sturgill brought to the table. We desperately need more structure, even at this early stage, it’s difficult to keep up with all the new questions. I personally have spent at the very least a couple of hours daily, since I joined, trying to add something useful to the question threads I have commented on, and reading and taking in the points raised by others.
We must respect that some people within the group are already running online businesses, and their time is money, so to speak. I stand here with only a bunch of ideas, no business, and a lot of research to do, so at some stage I too will have to prioritize my own stuff, otherwise I won’t get anything off the ground.
I don’t have any suggestions as to what format future changes should take, but we should avoid, at all costs, information overload and getting lost in a quagmire of information, regardless of how useful it may be. So an easy to use Navigation system is, perhaps, the most vital step at all and at the earliest opportunity.

Hi again Norma,
Personally I have “Dragon Naturally Speaking” version 13. I purchased it around 18 months ago. I got quite good at using it and then allowed my learning to lapse. It is quite easy once you get a little way through the training, but like most things you have to be consistent and persistent to make it stick for the long term.

Wow Bruce,
You really do put your thinking cap on for these discussions don’t you.
I think the argument made in point 3 is especially pertinent. We all need to be able to take constructive criticism. So that point bears repeating I think, I quote: “3. Recognize and challenge your faulty thinking.
On the one hand, we all want to be encouraged, to be told that everything will be all right. On the other, we don’t want to surround ourselves with people who are afraid to tell us what we might not want to hear.”1 user thanked author for this post.

Hi Bruce,
I now the importance of a daily routine for an entrepreneur. At present I get up late, but tend to go to bed late also. But to my shame I don’t really have a routine, set out, for my online business activity. The daily chores I do around the house are all pre-planned and sorted. But there is no set plan, yet!, for my online business.
I am hoping that PreneurPal and all you good people out there, will help me to shape up and design a disciplined approach to making my online business ideas a success.

Hi Scott,
I am broadly in agreement with you there. But as people are still joining the program, maybe we should allow some time for everything to settle down, before we start in earnest on the training side.
Everyone will, of course, work at their own pace through the training. Some others, who have followed Sean for a long time, may have seen a lot of that type of training before and that is an advantage in itself. As you admit yourself a second look has deepened your understanding.
I know from personal experience how intimidating things can become, in your own mind, if you join a group late and feel you have to rush, rush rush to catch up or keep up with the front runners.
This is by no means a sleight against you enthusiasm and intelligent proposals, it’s just how some human brains work, and I feel we have to allow a little more dust to settle before we forge ahead too quickly.
When the group is firmly established however, individuals, partnerships or groups can do more of their own thing. Without, of course, EVER losing the main ethos of the WHOLE group, that of helping one other whenever we can.

Hi Bruce,
Without even looking at your sites it is obvious, to me, where your heart and soul lie, and that is as an author, in whatever guise you choose. Psychology is obviously of great interest to you also, but if I were you I’d go full steam ahead on all things writing related, and maybe use the Psychology site as more of a serious hobby.
You could still set up your Psychology site to make passive income, and return to it when Writing, occasionally, becomes a little tedious, or the dreaded writers block sets in, which I believe it does for all writers from time to time.
But I really believe that your expertise in psychology can not only be used to good effect in marketing your own written work. But you could also use your talents to suss out the buyer psychology, (involved in every purchase of any goods or services) to significantly increase the ROI of both of your businesses.
So I suggest, getting fully active with the writing side, and set up the psychology site to slowly build a passive income (doesn’t have to be fast income, and take your attention away from the writing. A drip of income soon becomes a trickle, a steady flow and, eventually, a deluge)

Hi to all Preneurpal members!
My name is Leslie (but prefer to be called Les) and I hail from Leicester in England, and I am now in my late Fifties (My brain still thinks I am twenty however).
I served in the British Army for fourteen years, many moons ago now, as well as a six year stint as an expatriate in Saudi Arabia, during the early to mid Nineties).
I love serious and intellectually challenging conversations (on many topics). But I also love a good laugh folks.
I used to love reading and am still addicted to buying any second hand books I find interesting. But sadly, apart from dipping into them occasionally, I now have a substantial library of really useful business information that, sadly, I make very little use of.
I would love some incentives to read for at least a few hours a week again. I have the library to keep me going for years, so I don’t really need any more titles…lol
I left full time work at the end of 2005 (I was a Payroll Manager). Ever since I have, until recent years, earned a modest income selling physical, used books on the Amazon platform). By around 2013, however, this business had really spiralled into a steep decline, but I became blinkered, kidding myself that things would turn around for me. They didn’t of course
Meanwhile I dabbled in various online business schemes and made next to nothing, but spent a lot. Due to bad choices, and me never following through with anything I started in a committed way.
I have only been “seriously” looking for a replacement online business for a couple of years now. I still sell the odd physical used book on Amazon (my previous online business), but, unlike a few years ago, that no longer brings home the bacon.
Like others here, I have suffered from procrastination, and also butterfly syndrome, whereby I flutter from one online “opportunity” to another. But I never seem to stick with something long enough to succeed at anything. I had, until very recently, an addiction to BSOs….Something that I have been forced to stop, simply due to the fact that I don’t have any money left to spend on them. Burning through two, small cashed in pensions and dwindling savings has put paid to that.
So it’s backs to the wall time for me. Almost the Last Chance Saloon. (Thank goodness for my long suffering wife who holds down a full time job and is now paying for virtually everything, in the running of our rented home). So, if for nothing else’s sake, I want to make something positive and financially rewarding, of my online activity for her. To give us financial freedom and stability in our Autumn years, and for the remainder of our lives.

For myself I pledge to help, wherever I can with encouragement and advice. If we all do that it will make for a really solid foundation to our plans.
But we should also not be afraid to ask for help when we need it. I have read several brave admissions of flaws and past failures. Well I certainly have those, in abundance, too. But we have all got up and dusted ourselves down, otherwise we would not be here now.
Participation is huge of course, but links and recommendations to excellent IM sources are also pure gold, especially if any of us have found success using them.
Our combined expertise is enormous, and perhaps there should be a specific area for providing sources and links to real quality work we have produced ourselves, or third part materials we can highly recommend.
Maybe also an area, set aside, for reviewing websites, videos sales letters etc etc for purposes of critique?

Personally I would just like to solidify my ideas into reality.
Set up a world class website, a hub, if you will, for people to visit, learn and massively improve their own mindsets and self worth.
To do the above, I am willing to critique others work within this community and give advice and support whenever I can, in exchange for the same from others within the group.
I wish to gain confidence by doing, instead of just thinking and dreaming.
I wish to turn the inspiration I get from others within the community into decisive personal actions of my own, to propel my embryonic business forward and into brilliant fruition.
Finally I would like, by helping many many others around the planet, financial rewards enough to enable my family and I to live the life we all truly deserve and never again having to worry about keeping a roof over our heads or how on earth to pay the next car repair bill.

Most of the titles I would have suggested have already been mentioned.
A lot of those mentioned above are classics and evergreen also.
May I also add, in no particular order: “The Ultimate Sales Letter” by Dan Kennedy (This guy needs no introduction)
“The Ultimate Marketing Plan”…also by Dan Kennedy
“Watertight Marketing” by Bryony Thomas (This lady really knows her stuff)
“Sales Letters that Sell” by Drayton Bird (He’s a wise old owl of the old school, but still at the top
his game)
“The Diamonmd Cutter” by Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally (Based on ancient Tibetan
writings for strategies on
achieving financial and
personal success. But it’s
much, much more than that) -

Hi Gregory,
Call me biased but I would heartily suggest you take the advice provided by Bruce Hoag. Ads of any type are for those expert in the field with a large budget to test with and burn through.
Why not, initially at least, look at some other methods to get your message/product over to your intended audience?

Hi Scott,
I think you have answered your own question. Turn the giveaway into podcasts/audio format.
From what you have said, you are obviously a top notch speaker, so your voice must, at least, sound okay, and be easy to listen to, otherwise you would not have received all those top marks.
Your written work is better than the vast majority I have come across. I can clearly see that in the many comments you make. Don’t get tied up in unnecessary grammar. You are communicating ideas, and as long as those ideas are understood, then commas before or after “and” are just so much hogwash. I am not trying to put down grammar, without it our language would have no structure, but some of the more pernickety rules, especially within the online space are largely irrelevant.
But use your voice…audios and narrated videos…that is obviously your passion and should be the basis of your business, in my humble opinion.
Use your voice Scott..it is your gift.

Bruce, You always give such thought provoking advice!
As a compromise I might pack away books I probably won’t return to. That will make more space on the shelves anyway, if nothing else. I just have to stop being so much of a magpie when it comes to buying cheap, but interesting second hand titles from charity shops. I have been getting a little better at that in recent months. So onward and upward.
You have also given me another idea: I shall allocate a couple of shelves dedicated to the best and most useful titles in my collection, to teach and inspire me in my prospective business.

I quite agree with you Bruce. Most dictators truly believe they are doing the right thing. Most politicians in a democracy start off with feelings of goodwill to all men, but then slowly descend into self obsession and a lust for power and control.
But hey! We are the good guys Bruce. This community is small but the people in it genuinely want to help others, and in return earn fair recompense. Dictators demand something for nothing. And “Democratic”Governments connive and plot for the same thing.

November 7, 2017 at 12:41 am #1243
Hi again Suzanne,
Yes I served in the British army myself for 14 years. I previously mentioned that I was an underachiever, well I have genuinely never felt as driven, respected and useful since I left the military all those years ago. Yes I got some decent jobs, until I decided to go it alone 12 years ago, but never quite the same buzz. But, on the other hand, the Military organisations of most countries, do manipulate the serving individual in a way that suits the military during service, but which never quite prepares you for the normal human “failings” inherent in everyday civilian life.
I have been a civilian for 44 of my 58 years on this planet, but I still think like a soldier and am easily disappointed in the standards and values of so many people around the world, both leaders and followers.
I am sure I could try and psychoanalyze great political and warrior leaders of the past, but I don’t really think there would be a market big enough to give me the lifestyle I am aiming for. Don’t get me wrong, it would be a great project to go into, once I had made it in online business, and could afford to look into a long term hobby. But I, principally, want to help people who are alive and kicking in this world of ours today,
But your words also gave me another idea, and that is introducing the best of the military, in the form of self discipline, teamwork, loyalty etc etc into any mindset teachings I may introduce into the future.
And by the way, as a successful teacher and homeschooler I certainly think you have what it takes to positively effect the lives of all your children. You have done it once and you are tough enough to do it again…never doubt it soldier:)

-
November 6, 2017 at 11:40 pm #1235
Hi Suzanne,
That certainly helps a lot. and thank you for the time you have taken out to help me.
I don’t actually help anyone, just yes with questions of self esteem..etc, but that is what I am drawn to, when it comes to starting an online business.
I will have to think long and hard as to why I ended up in the whole Personal development mindset thing. I think it was a combination of a guy who I know, who is simply a genius at all the mindset stuff. His enthusiasm awoke within me something that was always there and that was a huge urge to take the whole damned world by the scruff of the neck and scream, “this is how you should treat each other, this is how you can get on better”.
Sounds corny I know. How dare a guy aged 58, an underachiever, a serial procrastinator, so far anyways, and STILL in the research stage for an online business have such high and mighty ambitions.
Believe it or not, and if I go a lot further back I think it is my lifelong interest in Military history and GEO politics. What has that to do with Mindset? Well a lot actually..if only the likes of Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin been able to look into themselves and examine the hatred within their minds…what could the world have been like now? Maybe a lot further foreword internationally, in solving racial, religious and sexual equality questions. Or then again, maybe not. Sure in the case of those aforementioned tyrants there were external circumstances that connived and converged to raise them to power. But it was their own states of mind, and unbending wills, that led directly to the tens of millions of dead prior to and during World War 2.
If I can change the mindset of only a few thousand people, it might just be the start of an avalanche of common sense, tolerance and friendship around this planet of ours. And bring us closer to become equals, and all citizens of Earth, rather than far too many of us being sabre rattling, jingoistic and blinkered individuals led by worse.

November 6, 2017 at 11:48 pm #1237
Hi Sean,
Sounds like you are onto something there. Getting closer anyway. Linking to individual replies is absolutely essential as you say. It also saves heaps of time. And if you can pull the rabbit out of your hat, and do something to keep the advantages of B and D, we could almost have ourselves a prototype!!
-
November 6, 2017 at 6:25 pm #1126
Hi Scott,
Fascinating! But is it a lead magnet?
A very detailed and informative piece of work. Now I know Sean loves substantial lead magnets both information wise and word count. For me the jury is still out on that one. However, I see no reason why you couldn’t still use that PDF as a lead magnet as long as you drew up a cheat sheet to go alongside it. This would serve as an easier reference, and as a fast start guide, so to speak. People are, unfortunately getting lazier and attention levels are declining.
I do not know why your last venture resulted in no sales, but I suspect it may have been the positioning in the market and the targeting, perhaps being too broad.
But after saying all that, I think once most people got access to your enormous download they can either read it immediately, or late. Most won’t have time to more than skim the piece, meaning to return later. But of course most never return. This could be another reason why downloaders did not go onto purchase any paid products you may have had to offer.
Have you though about publishing the PDF as a short kindle book? With the correct marketing that may work better than using it again as a lead magnet.
Finally, how about spicing up your work. Add diagrams, graphs, and maybe a short video. And, yes, more white space and a bigger font.
But, for all that, a great piece of work.

Hi Bruce,
Call me old fashioned but I think the squeeze page should require one of two actions: To opt in or to leave. I just feel anything else on the page just diverts attention away from the singular action you want the prospect to take.
Once the prospect becomes a subscriber you can link him to your blog via email

November 6, 2017 at 2:48 pm #1086
Hi Norma,
I think you may have hit on something with your examples of Jobs and Kamen. That Field’s book Sounds like an interesting read. There is a lot of logic to that theory. If I structured my everyday tasks better I would have more time to spend on my business ideas. And less anxiety about silly, insignificant stuff.
I do hope your eyes are soon back to normal:)

Hi Remcy,
I noticed you started the site some time ago and are now revamping it, so to speak. So good for you on that. The site loading times are a problem as you know. Your appear confident on the videos I saw, but just a little preparation work on camera placement, so we can see your full head and shoulders while you are speaking would make it even better. But the more you do the better you will get.
I shall revisit your site, from time to time, and make more detailed critiques within the comments section of that website, as I feel that is more appropriate for you.

I only had the one email so far and accepted around 4 friend requests. Just now I have done as Bruce Hoag advised and discovered another request for my friendship, which I duly accepted.
I think it is something that Sean may want to clarify a little more because I still have several friend request I made to others, still awaiting acceptance. I don’t think it’s because everyone dislikes me …lol. I just don’t think that many are aware of the friendship function yet.
Even Sean does not love me anymore, as he was the very first person I sent a friend request to, several days ago…lol

Hi Claire,
You seem a lot like me. I ask a question when deep down I really know the answer.
But maybe you, like me , like to get what we really think re-affirmed by others. I believe this community will be a boon for us in that aspect.
But if I have guessed you all wrong, please feel free to pour scorn onto my theorizing.
The answer to you affiliate question, I feel, is that you are not really interested in that method of marketing. So I would focus on the methods you are really passionate about.
Maybe in the future, when you have gained more experience, you can add affiliate marketing to your tool box. And because of the other successes, you will have generated by that time, you might then find it a useful addition to your skill set. You can use it to raise quickly raise cash for your own business while also helping your clients by offering them something you truly believe in, but that happens to come from a third party.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your input. I understand that I have to dive in at sometime. But the research I have to do is essential, just so I can see for myself what the level of competition is.
I am mostly about getting people to fulfill their true potentials, But also about facing their demons and overcoming the life “cancers” of self loathing, lack of self esteem and self worth.
I do not use the “big C” word lightly as several years ago my wife suffered from Breast cancer (she is well out of the woods now with a clean bill of health). I use the C word as I truly believe that it reflects how debilitating our own states of mind can be, if we don’t learn to understand why they are there, and to recognise the feelings that they create with us. Only at that stage can we begin to deconstruct them and eventually eliminate them or, at least, control them.
