I do affiliate marketing in several niches and depending on if there is a high ticket launch I can do okay. Mainly it is just cream money on side, but I am going to take it a step further over the next year and I know there are some valuable tools I can promote which will compliment my product and allow me to keep the prices down on my product so I can reach my target market.
Depending on what niche you are in there a quite a few place to find good quality products you can promote.
    Here’s a couple I know of:
    – Clickbank.com is good for lots of niches and usually you get good information from the vendor
    – JVZoo.com is good mainly for internet marketers but there are other products as well
    – muncheye.com is for IM product launches
    – jvshare.com – just seen this one haven’t checked it out
    – warriorforum.com – digital marketing

Also there are places such as
affiliatly.com – that promote their own affiliates
    Amazon.com and many more

I think the first things is to find products that work with your audience and then if it benefits them why not tell them about it?

Following on from what Malik said I was reading a good blog post social sprout the other day that talks about the demographic of social media platforms. This may help in deciding if its worth looking at a platform be seeing if it targets your demographics.

It was written in March of this year and at least a place to start https://sproutsocial.com/insights/new-social-media-demographics/

I use several and find something good and bad about each and everyone. I am currently exploring Sendlane again (started using if a few years ago, when it was new) but there are heaps of new components that I am now learning. So far it is really showing itself to be a great one for internet marketers and reasonably prices as well.
There are a few plugin out there that allow you to create your own autoresponder such as one by Brett Rutecky called myMailIt (still in beta testing) so should be interesting if it is worth hosting your own or simply to complicated.

I think the biggest thing I need to change is prioritizing my work time over family,(structured time for both) but am working on this now and starting to see the difference.

Yes my family and friend know what I do online, they are supportive in such that they don’t bag it out of anything, but they don’t really understand what I am doing. They are not really interested just see it as tech stuff 🙂

Hi Troy I agree this is sometimes the part that totally stops you 🙂 so I think you should do as Sean recommends find a problem and solve it (may not have the exact wording).

For example for you wanting to help business grow their sales what did you find was their problem? … it’s not just lack of sales. It maybe lack for brand continuity, not reach customer etc.

For me I realized that I didn’t want to help people build their website I want to take away the frustration and overwhelm that comes from not being able to get your message out as you are not seen as the professional person you are. That people are not taking your business as a real business not just a ‘online’ business. So my aim is to elevate this problem for them. 🙂

I think it depends at what stage you are at if you are just setting up you understand that’s part of the process, but if over time you are not making money if can be hard to stay motivated. This is when you have to do two things reassess what you have to see why you are not making money and see if honestly its your end goal ie if you just love giving out information on something then maybe your goal is not to make an income at the moment.

I have a friend who has being doing something for 5 years now and made hardly any money, but her end goal was to become a TV celebrity and all she as doing was getting herself out there as a brand and she knew the money would come then and it has happened she is now part of a new TV channel being launch next year, not only will she have a program on the station she is also part of the board overseeing the whole concept… her end goal.

Whereas if you need the money to keep going be brutally honest with yourself or find someone you can mastermind with and make it happen 🙂

I get that Malik I have five children and have worked though all their growing up. I also have a schedule, but it was a lot more fluid when the kids where young. They can’t wait for food, nappy changing and the like, but I always still did the work.

I think the biggest thing about being successful and still having time for family and friends is knowing what is important and what you are willing to give up.

For example maybe you would give up some nights out with friends (not all) to get the work done, get up earlier or stay up later to work when family is asleep. I was willing to do this, but I always stop work at 3.10pm when the kids came home from school and have family time then. This I never regretted doing and as my last two children (twins) as of tomorrow are finishing their last day of high school in a way I think I will miss this part of our routine.

I believe success doesn’t mean giving them time with family and friend it mean making the time worthwhile and then using your other time more productively. 🙂

I learnt today when you are on the right track even if something goes wrong you tend to still keep moving forward.
I had an issue with getting the SSL on my website and when I was working on something that I didn’t really want to work on (just thought it was better than nothing) I would use it as an excuse to stop. Whereas today while I waited (couldn’t access my website) I wrote 2 articles and create 3 graphics. So when the site is accessible again (should be an hour or so now) I will have more to put on it, not be frustrated because of the hold up.
Pretty powerful stuff … well interesting to me anyway 🙂 🙂 🙂

I see a squeeze page as a landing page that has the sole purpose as to get someone to signup for a free product, to get them on a list.

These could be the first and third examples Bruce had above.
My biggest question is should there be a anatomy to a squeeze page and certain features that are always found.
    Such as
    1. A Headline – that capture the persons attention
    2. Sub Headline – to expand on the Headline (sometime these headline and sub headline can be reverse)
    3. Bullet Points or Text – Key Benefits
    4. Image usually of ebook, or a short video
    5. Optin Form either name and email with button and just email and button
    6. Legal Information – and copyright information
Rule: The whole thing needs to sit about the fold on your web page.
    – Goes to Thank You Page with download button and maybe an upsell
    – Send them an email with Welcome email and download link again

Whereas I see the other optins as Lead Magnets where you get some other benefit such as reading an article, watching a video and then you are given a call to action.

What’s other thoughts on this? Have I missed something? Agree? Disagree? 🙂

Hi Bruce, through research and recommendation mainly. I have some contact that are doing very well in the IM industry and I tend to pick their brains. Even though I am not doing the same work as them I still keep learning about it, as many of the things that happen in the IM industry are starting to trickle down into other niches and the one that get that are doing very well.

Looks Good Richard, thank you page works as well and easy and quick to download. I haven’t read your pdf yet, but at a quick glance it looks interesting.
BTW The link on the bottom is that going to your product (looks like from a guy Rich Lauro, but may still be yours) or an affiliate link. Why I am asking it that if you are an affiliate the link in the footer is a direct link with no affiliate code and neither is the one on the last page. Just thought I would mention it as if you have gone to this much work you are missing out on income because of incorrect link. 🙂

I love google docs, for collaborating with others as several people can have access to the same document and all changes are seen on all copies. This eliminates the old problem of sending documents back and forwards and people editing old copies etc.
It also comes in handing if you are working on something and you take notes and the person you are working with can see the notes as well and add directly to them.
As for document creation that has a design element google docs is fine for the basics but I still use word for ebook setup and design as google doc just doesn’t cut it.
I also use google spreadsheets and pretty well all components of google drive (still finding new things I can do) simply for the convenience of being online and ease if access on phone and computer (or someone else computer). I also found it great when travelling as a extra backup of files and documents.

    Hi Malik,
I cannot answer the psychology of this and I know others in here have the skills and knowledge to do that. What I can answer from my own personal experience so I hope this helps.

    Working through the hard Slog

Yes IM is hard, and to make it easier you need to find something that you truly enjoy. Yes I know that been said, but it truly heaps I can give you an example from my life. Previously I worked as a web designer for over 20 years and have done pretty well. I make enough of an income to looked after myself and my family and to allowed us to travel and have a good level of freedom.
Then I started to get burnt out and a couple of years ago I decided to go into IM niche, I created some products and did ok but I was very stressed about making the right product etc. Yes, that’s one of my personality traits I like it right (see all the variables) and will not accept anything less (so I didn’t create as much as I could have done) this create a lot of stress and financial problems and I didn’t find my voice so I didn’t find my audience. I simply didn’t find satisfaction in what I was doing and couldn’t motivate myself to keep going. I think this is the issue many people have. I realized the things I love where design, problem solving and fixing up things.

    Do You become less stressed?

Yes and No. I think you become different stressed you love the process/product and the frustration is just part of it, but you are now doing something you enjoy. You tend to not focus on the negative as much and get more done. When I changed my business I found that I changed and so did my attitude and I was happy to put in the extra work needed.
In my case I took the things I loved and found a new way to help the people I wasn’t reaching before. I am now creating a new business renovating website, this means I use my skills to help the audience I like working with and give more.. less stress better results.. win win for both parties.

    Controlling the business model

I think you definitely have to know you goals; what you want to do, why you want to do it, what financial goals do you need now and if the future. Without this you tend to create your unmeasurable expectation and create more stress for yourself. For example if you are working full time and you can go without monetary gain for a little while focus on building a strong list of people you connect with, but you should know how, what and when you are going to go for the money otherwise you are just working towards nothing.
<No more stress than any business
I think is the same as being in any business, the difference is it is easier to be in ‘business’ online and if you don’t treat it the same as you would a normal business than the stress, lack of motivation and overwhelm definitely will win. Don’t think of it as something extra (unless that’s what you want) treat it the same as if you decided to open a brick and mortar business and spent thousand of dollars to start it.
Okay that’s my thoughts on this subject 🙂 I hope that helps a little

I believe you must start by first defining your business. This has several components and without this you don’t have a focus and tend to go round and round in circles

    1. Define Your Business
    2. Recognize Your Brand / Vision & Share It
    3. Know Yourself, Your Strengths & Weaknesses And Making Them Work For You
    4. Find a Connection with your Audience and solve their problems

I think there are several things you need to do before you start so here is my summary.

    Define Your Business

Defining Your Business means creating a Business Plan
The plan (it should be no more than 1-2 Pages in length) defines your business, so when you take action you can check back and say “Does this task work within my business or take me away from my core business plan, values and beliefs? If the answer is YES then go go go… If NO, then how can you adjust it or just remove it to continue on your plan.
    Ask yourself:

    • Do you sell products or services?<br />List them and give details, including that problems are they going to solve. If you don’t solve a problem that why do your customers come to you. For example as a fitness coach you may what to help people get fit, but that not a problem. Less look at this group – 40 year old women are finding it hard to loss weight because they children are growing up and they are not as active, but the are still busy. So their Pain Points are being less active but still time poor. To solve their problem you could create a product that gives a great workout in a short time.
    • Why do you want to do this?
What will motivate you to do the hard work to achieve the success you want, what is your end goal
    • Are you going to work on this Full-time or Part-time?
    • How are you going to monetize it?
Examples: Coaching Clients, Retreats, Courses, Books, Seminars, Webinars to name a few ways.
    • How can you scale your business to reach more people if you don’t invest in it?
Maybe start with a free book to build a list, then a small course or service and then a bigger one etc. If you are working one on one is there a way to reach more people?

Recognize Your Brand / Vision & Share It

You might not need or want brand recognition to the extent of the big labels such as CocoCola, but you do need a basic look and continuity where possible.
You also need to share you look and vision with as many people, platforms or places as possible, because if you build they won’t come you have to find and engage with them.
When you think of a Brand, you may think of the big ones such as Coco Cola, Nike or McDonalds, but a brand can be created for a small business. Here are some of the things you need to create a brand.
Who is the audience you are talking to and what do you want to convey.
If your audience is 20-30-year-old Males, then your look would be different to 50-60-year-old females. Understand what you want them to think of your business – for example, it is fun, serious or thought-provoking?
What colours are you using and why?
Do your colours work online, do they work in print, and are they attractive you your audience?
    Do You have a logo?
Getting a logo created that will be relatable to your audience and with your colour scheme. It is important as it is an instant way for your business to be recognised. It also adds credibility to your brand.
Are you Portraying Your Business or Yourself consistently?
Is the message you are giving out the same all the time. Think of some of the bigger brands or business celebrities they have a ‘look’ that works for them, for example, Tony Robbins is known as a great no-nonsense sort of guy, totally passionate and motivational. Oprah is known to be compassionate, caring and determined.
You would never see them out partying and rolling around drunk. Why, because they understand that it would damage their brand.

Knowing Yourself, Your Strengths & Weaknesses And Making Them Work For You

This can be very confronting because sometimes you think you have it all together. In fact, the opposite may be the case, and after you acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses, you can find solutions to make them work for you. Make sure you do this as it is important, instead of just pretending they are not there or they may be an issue now or in the future.
For example: One of my traits is being Enthusiastic (I am in 100% in whatever I am doing) this a great strength and I can get very deep into what I am doing and will take the extra time to work things out. Looking at being Enthusiastic as a weakness could mean I tend to neglect other parts of my business or burnout over that one task instead of finding balance. By being aware of this trait, I make sure I schedule my time.
Another example is your strength could be that you are very knowledgeable on a particular subject so as a strength your client is going to get value for money. But, as a weakness, you must be aware of not giving them more information than they are ready for.
Otherwise, they may be overwhelmed and probably not come back to you. This could mean the value you have given them is lost, and for you, a client is lost. Now, decide what you can do to make the most of your strengths and counteract your weakness.

Find a Connection with your Audience and solve their problems

Finding your audience, the people who connect with your brand or vision is what helps you to take your action to reach your goal.
As the saying goes nobody is an Island and what that means is you can’t do this alone, you need to connect either to your customers, people that will help your vision grow and to people that are like-minded so you can work together to achieve more.
Finding out where your target audience can be found. Then the next step is simply to engage by answering questions, comments and generally becoming part of the community.
Becoming part of communities respectfully and engaging without an agenda allows you to be more genuine and valued in the eyes of your audience. Isn’t this the Goal!
Ok that’s my thoughts and I hope this helps 🙂

I notice it’s getting harder out there now, but I have found if you are buying solo ads to find people that a niche specific not all-rounders ie advertise to 2-3 niches. You need to make your free product really specific to your target so even if you get lower optins you get people looking for the issue you can help with, this means that they will be looking for your help as you have pre qualified them.

Here are some place that I have purchased solo ads from
    Facebook:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/salestestimonials/
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/SoloAdsTestimonials/

    Websites:
    https://www.clickonomy.com/
https://udimi.com/ (used but didn’t have great results but others have)

    Hope this helps 🙂

I see this a lot as yes it reminds me of a chain letter, why not just offer the people some firstly that gives them value (they can optin) and then send a them a follow up email and in that situation you could ask for feedback or as that stage ask them to share it. Give them the link to the optin page again to send to friend and connect with them and say something like “would you mind sending this link to anyone else you think has xxx problem or would love to achieve xxx as my goal is to help as many people as possible and I find when this link is coming from a friend they will open it and get the help they need”
Just rough but hopefully you get the idea 🙂
I have done this a few times and mad sure the link I put I could measure and I got go results.

Sorry Dana, I haven’t used either, what makes you drawn to those two and maybe if you are interested I can tell what else is out there. Is it personal experience or recommendation. 🙂

Why couldn’t your Signature be something where you have a tag line (I put in a quick one) that summarizes what you can give and highlights your strengths

Thanks Norma for highlighting this issue, I think that sometime working by yourself you think that you are the only one with these issues.

Hey Bruce, love the story of Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer you are so right! They did not let self doubt creep in and use ‘it’s not perfect’ as an excuse. I have taken the three lines and have it on my screen for when I start self doubting and jump into perfectionist mode 🙂
I made the info you said about Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer up and I have it on my screen to remind me, I just need to stop self doubting and trust that it’s better to get it out there and then improve it, then to not put it out until it’s “perfect”. Thanks

Here is your statement as a quick visual 🙂

Thanks Sean, interesting 🙂 I have just been approved to use a expensive platform and allow my students to use it for free for 6 months and this would cut down a cost but give them awesome tools, so maybe this is something I will look into soon.

    Next weeks Goals-
    1. Create a new course and get it ready for promotion the next week.
    2. Create a new business platform where the above course will be the first course
    3. Keep promoting existing products (different niche)

Do you want me to break it down into daily goals?
