It’s coincidental that I came across this thread right after I read Sean’s offer of 1:1 coaching for 10 hours.
It really resonated with me, and made me realize I need someone to keep me focused and accountable.
So to answer the question, “What is the next thing you should do?”. . .
Get access to Sean’s 10 hour 1 to 1. Easy answer.
No brainer. Talking with Sean on the phone for 90 days (okay, not every day, but for 10 hours within that time) is better than playing with courses that offer promises but no direction. I’m sick of the “loophole” gimmicks or the ones that promise $200 a day for a one time payment of $7.55. They’re just rehashed products of the same failed methods.
Anyway, I digress. I’ll keep you up to date on my progress.

Great questions, Malik. I’m not sure how many people actually consider their customers’ Avatars when setting up their products.
Truth be told, I’m guilty of not doing that completely myself. A little bit of research here can pay off big time. Obviously, you need to know to whom you’re marketing.
It’s good food for thought. I have a couple products in the fold that I want to promote (and a couple to create), and I’ll definitely use your questions as launch fodder.

Far and away, it’s checking my stinkin’ email. I’m not a big social media guy, but admittedly, I spend way too much time with email, looking to see what’s there and deleting what’s cluttering my inbox.
And when I’m checking my email, what happens? Yep. I see this offer, then that offer, and wait. What’s this?
Oh, yeah. Something else I don’t really need.
As I’ve indicated in previous posts, I’m getting better. I don’t buy nearly as much as I used to, but I’m still wrapped up in the “fascination” of email. Truth be told, I use a lot of surfing as research now. I like to see how fellow IMers are structuring their offers. A few years ago, surfing would not be to check on competitors, but rather to buy, with a capital “B.”
I’m committed to using my free time to my business. I’m getting there.

Next up, 200. The way things have progressed over the past month, I think we’ll surpass that sooner rather than later.
The way this site has evolved over that time is just astonishing. What’s really amazing is how active and robust this community is with barely 100 members.
What will it be like once that number is in four figures? I plan on staying around to find out.

Thanks for bringing this up. It reminds me of a task I need to accomplish. The last thing I consciously remember purchasing is access to this site. I guess it’s time to purge. . .
I have so many things that auto-renew in PayPal that I can’t keep track of them all.
Because of this post, I’m going into PP tomorrow and cancelling all those auto-pays that are doing nothing but draining my bank account every month.
And is it just me, or does it seem those auto-renewals come at the worst possible time each month?! Just curious. . .

I don’t know why it took me this long, but something kind of clicked that I realized I need to shift my focus. I was all over the board for so long, and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong.
I got a slap in the face today as I pondered my business, and I realized I needed some clarity. I think I got it, and I’m ready to move forward.
Truth be told, I believe a lot of that is the inspiration of gotten from writing and reading posts here. This has really given me some inspiration.

Ummmm. . .everything so far. Okay, so I guess that’s kind of a cop-out answer, but I’m just gobsmacked at how this has evolved in just a couple weeks.
I read something in a previous post about the Warrior Forum. I see this as being way better. Unlike WF, this is evolving into a site where people actually want to help one another.
I’m in it for the long haul and eager to see where it goes from here.

Great post. The only thing I would probably change is the name field. I’ve found greater success asking for just the email address. The fewer hoops to jump through. . .
That’s just something you’d have to test. It may be dependent upon your offer.

My favorites, up to now, are Optimize Press 2.0 and Landing Page Monkey. I find them super easy to use.
I’ve looked at InstaBuilder and WP Profit Builder, among others, but I find there are too many moving parts. . .in my humble opinion.

Knowledge is a good thing, but for me, over-studying creates more work. In my quest for knowledge and wanting to know everything before I take action, it creates more work because of the things I’m not getting done. Make sense?
I think I’m getting better at that, though. Studying with no action doesn’t pay the bills. It was a hard lesson to learn.

Especially in this business, obsession is key. I’ve read and heard many times that if it doesn’t hurt to give away whatever it is you’re giving away, then you’re not providing enough value.
Over-deliver at every turn, and you’ll have no shortage of customers.

As per usual, my wife and I spent Thanksgiving camping. It was awesome, by the way. My epiphany was establishing (starting) a membership site (sites, actually) for a couple businesses I want to get off the ground.
I’ll keep you apprised how I do.

I am thankful for my best friend, my wife. She is my rock and my foundation. She has never once been critical of my journey to make a living online.
It’s funny, but she and I had this conversation a couple days ago. We ALL have issues/conflicts to deal with. . .maybe not every day, but we all have bumps in the road. How you handle those bumps is the true test of character. She will never be critical of what I want to accomplish.
It’s all good for me, because I know I have someone in my corner supporting me.
Life is good, and it’s only going to get better.

Sorry to hear about the surgery, but I’m glad all seems well for now. Best of luck.
I feel also that I’ve kind of run out of steam, but I think that’s probably the nature of this time of year. My wife and I are avid campers, and we basically hibernated for three days.
It’s awesome to see the continued changes/updates that show up here.
I’m just getting back into my post-Thanksgiving groove.

Two things — accountability and goals. Assuming that you didn’t already have a coach, this site now takes care of the accountability issue. Without goals, you’ll never know what you’re accomplishing, if anything.
If my aim is to get my squeeze page up and running today but I don’t accomplish it, I haven’t met my goal. If I want to write three emails but I write only one, I’ve fallen a bit short.
Granted, you’re not going to accomplish everything you set out to do every day. Life happens. But I think just knowing what you want to get done and focusing on just that keeps you on the path.

I remember it distinctly. I received an email notification that I had made $27 for a public domain product I was promoting as an affiliate. It was back in the day when I was doing article marketing quite heavily. Truth be told, I couldn’t even tell you what year it was.

Accomplishing at least one of my goals — getting a squeeze page set up, adding an email to my sequence, getting a new subscriber, making a sale, etc., etc.
I would say anything that moves my business forward is a success. Reading email, watching a tutorial video, or anything similar — not so much.
Anything I can do that can be perceived as changing a life is a success.

Email, email, email. I’m working on it. I think it’s an irrational fear that I may miss the next big thing. I know it’s not out there.
Truth be told, I do spend time on my business, but not as much as I should each day.
I know that’s a problem and something I need to rectify. But I’m getting better 🙂
I guess being a teacher, my natural inclination is to be a life-long learner. I know that’s an excuse.

I’ve always been of the mindset that stress is self-imposed. Some may disagree.
If you’re not comfortable with your daily nine-to-five, you may find that anything, whether that’s internet marketing or any other pursuit, would be a welcome change.
It reminds me of the aphorism, “The grass is always greener. . .” For example, I enjoy teaching. Are there days I would like to do something else? Absolutely.
My point is don’t just jump into another pursuit full-bore unless you know for sure it’s tour true calling. Do I want to be a full-time internet marketer? Yes. Do I want to give up my day job to make it happen? Maybe not just yet.
Bottom line. . .just do what’s right for you when you know it’s right.
Trust me, you’ll know.
Next year will probably be my farewell tour in the classroom. It’s been a great ride, but I know it’s time. I want to devote all my time to internet marketing.

The only person I have to answer to is my wife. She is, has been, and always will be, supportive of my endeavors.
She knows it is something I am passionate about and would never question what I am doing. I think most of it is she knows that my successes will translate to her as well.
I don’t really share what I do online with anyone else (friends or family) mostly because I don’t think it concerns them. My wife is the only one who needs to be in the loop.
Because of that, I consider myself very lucky.

It’s a huge time saver. It frees me up to do other tasks that are important to my business. There’s no doubt I could do the writing, whether it’s the sales page, the ebook, the squeeze page, etc., but it’s one fewer task in the arsenal.
Just my opinion, but the writing component is the most time consuming part of running a business.
If I don’t have to write the sales page, I can focus on how to get traffic to it. . .or whatever else I need to do to market my product/site.
Come to think of it, I can outsource other tasks as well. I think I just had an epiphany. Wow!

I can’t give as detailed a response as the previous two. I’ll answer this in the simplest way I can — build a list.
I know you’ve probably heard that ad nauseum since you’ve been online. I don’t mean it to sound overly simplistic. If you get a list of subscribers, it’s the most important asset you can have.
Market to them over and over and you’re golden.
Find a lead magnet you can offer, or create your own. Send traffic to it (solo ads, Facebook ads, Bing ads, etc.), and get as many subscribers as you can.
If you’re just starting out, that should be the focus of your business. If you can devote an hour or two a day to just building a list, you’ll be amazed at the results a month down the road.

Simple. He knows his stuff.
If you have a question or send him an email for any reason. . .he responds. Imagine that. Someone who will actually take the time to respond. I’ve never had a question/inquiry go unanswered.
If you’ve followed Sean for any length of time, he truly cares about his students. He’ll go the extra mile to make sure you succeed.

I’ve been here since day one (I think). This site has evolved so much and is evolving every day. If this is how much it’s changed in a couple weeks, I’m excited to see what it will look like by the first of the year.
This is a great place to be right now.
Robust is an understatement. If you’re in the IM niche (or any niche for that matter), this is the only place you really need to be. I’ve never seen a membership take off this quickly.
And as I read from a previous post, no one here is self-serving. It really does feel as if each member is trying to help everyone else. Absolutely awesome!

Truth be told, I like to see the different features of different ones. That’s why I posed this in the first place. I’m curious what features others are liking/using.
I know the creation of squeeze pages, sales pages, etc. is a huge niche. I’d love to create a builder of my own one day. Would it be better? Would it not? I don’t know right now.
Call it research at this point.
I think I have enough to go on right now. It’s just a matter of getting it done (just like everything).

You’re absolutely correct about the need to feel “loved” and validated. That’s a great point and absolutely true.
I think another part of it is the desire to see what the next great offer is to hit my inbox. What I’ve learned is that it’s something that merely keeps me from moving forward. It’s an excuse to not take action.
I’m proud to say it’s something I’ve gotten much better at.

I would say it’s probably been a dozen years. If I knew then what I know now. . .
I’m getting better, though, and I’m making strides. I’m in a way better place now than I was when I first started.
It’s kind of a double-edged sword. Back in the day, we didn’t have the cutting-edge resources we have today. By the same token, the competition wasn’t nearly as fierce.

Just to throw in a few more ideas here: What about creating a newsletter that you can send to your subscribers or to attract new leads? Also, you could use it as email content, or perhaps you could create a physical product (a home study course and sell it that way).
I agree with Sean, though. If you have to re-purpose it, let someone else do it and focus on other areas of your business.

I think helping each other get unstuck is a great idea. We all get stuck at times.
The thing that probably prevents me from getting started is just not knowing where to start. We get inundated with so many offers, purchase so many products, and have so much information to sift through, that we don’t know where to start.
I can’t tell you the number of times I would sit at my computer, stare at the monitor, and just think to myself, “Where do I start?”
Ultimately, nothing would get done. What would I do? Go back into one of the multitude of trainings I had purchased and start going through the videos for the 17th time thinking that would give me the clarity I needed.
Did it work? Nope.
Long story short, I think not having someone to answer to has been my biggest sticking point.

Being a PLR/resources junkie, I’d like to see some sort of repository where people can share templates, plugins, ebooks, etc. that they have access to and can offer to others. I know, many of us may have access to a lot of the same products anyway, but not everyone does.

Hi Sean,
Are you still using Beaver Builder, or are there other platforms you would suggest?
I’ve been wanting to start a membership for some time, as I have so much content in a couple different niches that I know I can make it work. But I think the things that have kept me from moving forward are cost and ease of implementation.
They all just seem so cumbersome.
My plan is to use some of the content early in the funnel and offer the membership as a more high-ticket upsell. I hope I’m on the right track.

I tried Facebook ads. Not for me. I’ve used solo ads quite a number of times with a little success. By success I mean getting people on my list. Turning them into buyers has been a different story. Therefore, solos have left me wondering what kind of traffic I’m actually getting.
Someone I’ve known and followed for several years swears by Bing for qualified traffic. I’ve never used it, but it’s something I’m seriously considering checking out.
If I do, I’ll let you know my results. I’ll probably dive in later this week.
Also, I have my own blog, but it’s like other free traffic sources. You get traffic, but do you know what you’re getting?

You’re fortunate to be from such a beautiful state. I was there about ten years ago and absolutely loved it. Of course, I was there during the summer. January or February may have been a different story.
It’s funny, but I’m in an opposite situation. Being from Arizona, people say the same thing about May through October here. Those are the brutal months.

I can’t take credit for that quote. It’s just something I was taught a long time ago by a very well-respected marketer. It’s kind of become my mantra.
I love acquiring knowledge. As a teacher, it’s in my blood.
As a marketer, it doesn’t work the same. That’s probably been the biggest object lesson for me. I have to separate the day job from the marketing job.

In the reply box, type in the text you want for your signature, and in the tab above, click “link” before and after the text you want to be clickable. Then copy and paste that code into your signature box. You can then delete the text from the reply box.

I really need to dig in to Builderall. I’ve heard so many good things about it; that’s why I took the plunge. I intend to begin by creating a few squeeze pages with it. I have some ideas for a funnel as well.
I’ll probably experiment with it for that. Once I’ve toyed with it a little, I’ll report my thoughts and results here. Stay tuned.

I’ve tried using Facebook ads, but I haven’t had great success. To be fair, I probably am not as well versed in that arena as I should be. Honestly, the one method that has been best for me would be solo ads.
Do your due diligence here, however, as the industry has suffered a black eye of late. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and make sure you know where your clicks are coming from.
Solo Ads Testimonials is a Facebook group that is a good place to start. Vendors are rated based on the experience of the buyers. It’s a good resource for finding reputable sellers.
Obviously, most would prefer free traffic, but it tends to be a lot slower. Besides, there’s always a cost involved, whether that’s your cash or your time.

I’m also not exactly sure of the benefit, but I do have “official” friends. The way I see it, we’re all here to offer advice and support, so I guess in that respect we’re all friends.
At least that’s the way I choose to look at it.

From my perspective, I think holding one another accountable is huge. One thing I’ve discovered is that I’m a tremendous starter, but as a finisher? Not so much.
I just need some continual support and a reminder that I need to think more like a seller and not like a buyer. All those toys I’ve purchased mean absolutely nothing if I don’t implement them.

I like Malik’s response. I think there was a huge interest in people adding responses once they joined the site. That’s normal. We’re excited. It’s new and people want to get involved. Cool. People want to get in the game.
